I know it was wrong what I did but what would you do now?

I wasn't really thinking it through and placed a bid for an item on ebay that I didn't really want (at that price at least).
Well, *of course* I was the highest bidder and the auction close on sunday.
Now i contacted the seller that I would buy it etc ... but he didn't reply.
Today I really regreted my decision and wrote him that since he didn't answer my emails I wouldn't buy it anymore ...
Now I got a reply that I don't have to take it but he wants 15 bucks for the provision and the "hassle" ... but the ebay provision only comes to something like 7.43 ... so I jsut wrote him back that it was partially his fault but that I would be willing to give him 7.00 bucks ...

I haven't heared from him since ...

I know I shouldn't have placed a bid if I didn't want it but what would you have done in my place ... ?
Do you think he will accept my offer? (I know there a quite a few people who wouldn't even have offered him to pay at least the $7.00)

Pay for it, like you agreed. Don't leave a trader out in the dust like that. If you made a mistake like that, you need to suck it up.

Should i pay the full 7.43 or do you think it is okay to only pay 7.00 (i really would have taken the item if he had answered me before I send him an email that I wouldn't take it since he didn't answer me before ...).
I am NOT willing to pay him $15.00 because it is not THAT much work to place an auktion on ebay ...

Pay for it. If he make an exception for you, he'll have to do it for everyone from the general public. That is how business works. By the way, if he failed to contact you within three business days, you're in right to cancel the bid I believe. eBay policy states involved parties have three business day to contact eachother.

Maybe, but now he's spending time because you bid for something you didn't want.

You should pay him for the value of the auction. Get your item and learn a lesson.

Very right - don't bid if you don't want the item...

Buy it.

Bad ethics if you back out.

Unless it took him over 3 business days, you need to pay for it, and if you really don't want it, resell it and hope someone with bad ethics doesn't back out on you, forcing you to make a whole new add and run the auction all the way through again.

You are lucky that he is willing to let you get away with paying $15 instead of the full amount. As an eBay user, I would probably charge twice the amount of the auction fee to cover the time you've wasted. You are now causing him to have to spend twice as long selling that item, which isn't fair to him. He did contact you within 3 business days of the end of the auction. Since it ended on Sunday, he had all day Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to get in touch with you, so the lack of communication on his part isn't a deal ender.

Pay him the full amount he requested ($15) and be glad you got away without negative feedback and a non-paying bidder notice.

According to the eBay policy of contacting a person within 3 days of the close of the auction, we wasn't untimely. The auction ended on Sunday and coolVariable was contacted today. The by the three business day rule, the seller had until midnight on Wednesday, so the seller kept up his end of the bargain.

Show him that you are an adult and pay for the item, full price. Appologize, take your lumps, and learn a lesson from all of this.

No thanks, I don't swing that way. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Pay up, the full amount. You're not just wasting his money if you don't, you wasted his time from the auction too.
