I killed my Striker Extreme

This morning before I went to work, I enabled the SLI memory option (Corsair XMS 6400C4) and set it to CPU 0%. Wasn't trying to accomplish much... I rebooted, all was fine.

I come home from work, turn on the computer and the internal lights kick on for a second, then nothing. I double checked all my connections, pulled out a stick of ram/switched 'em.... eventually tried clearing the CMOS (moving the jumper over, press button). I tried clearing the CMOS ten times.

Still nothing. All I have on the back LCD is CPU INIT. Any suggestions/tips/trick to bring life back to my motherboard?

Thanks in advance.

$#(%*@^$! That really sucks. Try clearing CMOS for long. And disconnect everything that'd possibly let even the slightest current through. (such as network cable, monitor cable, etc.) Take the battery out, too. Leave it for a day and put the battery back on, move the CMOS jumper back to normal. Only install CPU/memory/video cards. (everything else disconnected) And now connect a keyboard (preferably a PS/2 keyboard). You shouldn't have PSU connected up till this point. Now, press and hold down 'Insert' key on your keyboard. Connect the PSU and switch it on. (still pressing the insert key) Boot the system while holding the insert key, and as soon as you hear a beep (if you do) take the finger off the insert key and now press 'Delete' key.

I know it sounds ridiculous but it's one of the methods that were recommended to revive a seemingly dead nForce motherboard.

The battery remove method worked :)

Don't know what the deal is with the clear cmos button on the motherboard, but I don't think they are working... The power and reset switch work great though and I went through some troubleshooting steps...

Thanks for the tip! The old tried and true method is still successful.

Memory is still running great though at 2.1v, although my NEC 3550a is acting up, wouldn't recognize my Motherboard DVD... Burners are dirt cheap, motherboards on the other hand are an investment.

yeah. my p5n32-e sli plus does that too where the clear cmos doesn't work.

but after leaving the board unplugged for a day, it comes back alive. :)
