I kept on short-circuiting my laptop...

This just happened yesterday. The laptop can safely boot into windows. but when I touch (somewhat forcefully) certain part of the laptop, it will reboot or go into sleep mode. The same happens when I press certain keys, the touchpad, or flap the screen.

what's going on? is it even possible to find out where the short occurs?

just dont touch it.

Hi, It's probably not a short but something opening up. It could be as simple as a connector that's working its way out of a socket or a crack in the Mother Board. These are very difficult to locate. It's worth a try if you are handy with electronics and can figure out how to get it open. Search the net. Sometimes you can come up with instructions on how to open it up. Be advised that real often the laptop never works again after you open it up. Hope this helps a little. Good luck, Jim

well, there are 'normal' type screws everywhere, so I don't think it will be difficult to open it up, the only concern though is:

Be advised that real often the laptop never works again after you open it up.

yarrr.... 🙁

Sounds like a Dell. 🙂

If it is indeed a Dell, you can download the service manual from Dells Support Site. This will enable you to open the laptop safely.... and more importantly, put it back together as well 😀
