Yeah that was an awfully nice value-added feature they threw in wasn't it? Let's go ahead and force people using probably the second most popular card available today to use the slower, uglier API (at least for Half-Life.) I'm rebuilding my Radeon-based system tonight and I'm curious to see what happens.

Because it's cool to release a hafl-functional patch! Hoo-Ha!

Yeah, the VoiceCom seems to bring in a lot more data, I may disable it for now.

From what I'm reading it's only ATI cards. Apparently, when they were trying to fight off cheats like wallhacks and stuff it somehow caused an issue with the ATI drivers which apparently were the favorite/most popular of wallhackers in previous versions. If this is true, then that's just one more reason to detest cheaters. Everybody's saying there will be a fix for this soon, but that's just the general buzz. I'd like to see an official announcement made by Valve saying why there's a problem (if it's like I said above) and what can/will be done to fix it. Because the current solution of playing in D3D is NOT a viable option and also seems to crash.

Wall hacking with the Radeon? I thought it was Nvidia cards running certain Asus drivers that were
the culprits. I guess no CS for me till they get this resolved. I guess it's off to Castle W. for some crappy FPS.

You got that right, there's no way I can keep on playing cs with D3D.... You upgrade the software to use D3D what kind of upgrade is that. More like a downgrade. Oh well ATI users get shafted once more :(
