I run a small time restaurant and recently I've been getting some prank calls a lot. I have the culprit's phone number from caller ID; These two (i suspect two of them) pranksters have costed me at least $30 worth of lost food.

What can I do about this? I've already filled a phone harrassment report w/ the local police, but that doesn't do anything!! I can't block out their call because my restaurant gets a lot of business and many many customers have blocked phone numbers.

I tried to find some personals or something online (i wanted to put their phone number online for gay personals, etc.) but most of them seem to be email, or cost money, etc.

Suggestions?

If they're kids, I'd find out their address and pay their house a visit personally and talk to their parents.

That's a good idea. Gotta sound convincing though.

If it's done right, it will scare the crap out of them.

Don't forget to do a reverse lookup.

First of all, I'd take your counter dirty tricks fantasies right off of this public forum asap.

Got balls and their address? Pay them a visit. Tell your local paper. See if they'll send a "reporter" along.

Got the time and inclination? See if your local JP will let you file a small claims court case against them for lost monies. The amount doesn't matter, reclaiming it doesn't matter, cooling their jets in court does, though.

Uh, this is strictly illegal, and could backfire on you.

Call the local phone company with whom YOU have service, NOT the police. They have a dept. especially for asshats like this.
Then LOG all the calls they do to you. Once you have their address, sue them in Small Claims Court for lost business, and damages for lost food and wages of employees who answered their pranking calls..

yea, this sounds the best. Especially because you might get to hit them in the pocket book.

i agree, they wont like ~$150 in small claims going to you, and the judge might even toss on state fines depending on where you are.

Mom, used to work for PACBELL in the FRAUD division and this advice came from her from a conversation MANY years ago. This has been time and court tested.
I believe there might even be treble damages available, depending on State.

Find out where these fcukers live, grab a butcher knife, and head over to their house like Moe did in the Simpsons episode. That should take care of it.
