This is awesome! It was the first time I've been, just got lucky on one race...
Definately going back, hope this doesn't turn into an addiction....

I'll bet someone 5 bucks it doesn't!

As in, with cars?

Probably horses or greyhounds.

Yeah, on the horsies, so exciting.
I don't think I'd go to a dog track, not only because they're aren't any in the area, but I've heard they treat the dogs pretty bad (Bob Barker... Spayed and Neutered..etc etc)

I like to think that I am at least a little socially aware and responsible. Although, I imagine the horses aren't treated much better....

I grew up with horse racing being a part of my life for as long as i can rember and just last weekend i was walking a horse to the track and back from the track after winning his race :D $40 is a good start but it definately does get addictive....i didn't think it was that great as a kid but once i got to bet it took on a whole new meaning.
That being said...the horses are treated amazing well imho...at least mine are before the race and afterwards given the best medicines, attention, food that we can afford. The horses love to race...if u ever watch them in the wild even ones that haven't raced ever do it. There competitve in their nature. Put a human on their back and I dunno...its a wierd thing how a horse gets that glimmer in his eye and will change his whole attitude once he knows hes going to be running soon. The only regularly cruel thing would be the whips the jockeys use...i dunno how to explain away those, but you can't get a horse up to speed without one once he's beaten all the others :p

you need to come to KY and go to keeneland and churchill... those places will show you what REAL horse racing is all about!!

best bet i ever had was a $20 across the board bet ($60 total) on a 9-1 horse... it came in 2nd, so i got paid real nice!
good luck!
