I'm in Bahrain on a business trip for the moment so my buddy/collegue and myself took the opportunity to do some fun stuff. We rented each a Caterham and an instructor and went racing on the F1 circuit for 60 minutes (3 x 20 minutes)

200 bhp / 500 kg, 6sp manual, 0-60 in 3,5 seconds
crazy cars, amazing circuit and when the instructor drives it for the first 2 laps, I almost crapped my pants.
Only did one 360° so I'm pretty proud of myself :D

sorry for the crappy pictures and video

this is the best that we could do, they were working on the cars inside and we were not allowed in. ;)

Talked with the guy who is doing the telemetry stuff for the Ferrari team, nice guy

You should send this pic to the Mc Laren team. They sure will appreciate it :D

Wait so everyone is allowed to use the circuit, provided that some requirements are met?

yes, once or twice a month they have open track for bikes or cars. Between our sessions some guy was driving an Audi a8 on the circuit and there was also a Renault Megane Sport doing some laps plus the porsche that is in one of my pics. Yesterday there were all kind of Porsches (some Porsche club I think) and there was also open track for bikes

there are a lot of activities possible here, the Caterham thing, Lumina V8 rides, ...
there is also a big outdoor karting circuit and a 4x4 circuit. Yesterday I rented a quad to have some fun on their 4x4 circuit

It's dirt cheap compared with Europe, I paid 150 euro for the Caterham experience. This included insurance, a personal instructor and 3x20 minutes on the circuit. No nannyism, they ask if you can drive manual, the instructor takes you then for 2 laps to show you the circuit, some basic cornering theory and which gear to use in the corners, then they simply put you in the drivers seat and of you go

gas is dirt cheap, I paid 20 eurocent / liter to fill up my rental car (which is a nice Audi A6 btw)
