To create the other HDTV images, I downloaded some stills from New Line Cinema Movie Publicity that have a resolution of 5088x2200 or so. Using Photoshop, I scaled them down to 1920x830 or so with bicubic interpolation, and then added black bars to make them 1920x1080. They were not captured from an HDTV broadcast. They are merely simulations of what an HDTV broadcast might look like.
Well no sh!t it's going to look better.
