Well I first off want to know why the fvck did this movie get an 8.0 on imdb ?!?!?. This was one of the WORST movies I have ever seen, and the only reason I watched it was because of it's 8.0 rating on imdb. I didnt turn it off just because it was one of those movies you wanna just watch to see how much worse it can get, and boy did it ever just keep getting worse ...

So you read the rating, but not the plot summary?
Based on the Bram Stoker Award nominee short story by cult author Joe R. Lansdale, Bubba Ho-tep tells the "true" story of what really did become of Elvis Presley. We find Elvis (Bruce Campbell) as an elderly resident in an East Texas rest home, who switched identities with an Elvis impersonator years before his "death", then missed his chance to switch back. Elvis teams up with Jack (Ossie Davis), a fellow nursing home resident who thinks that he is actually President John F. Kennedy, and the two valiant old codgers sally forth to battle an evil Egyptian entity who has chosen their long-term care facility as his happy hunting grounds.
I loved the movie. Then again, I knew what to expect. :D

i knew vaguely what it was about, but i didnt think it would be worse than Wes Craven's They or The Relic.

Update: yup, in total agreement, this movie sucks. I'm going to scrub it off my hard drive with one of them DOD certified wipe programs. :)

bump since I just watched it. If you watch it expecting Ash or Autolycus or even Brendan Fraser vs. Bubba Ho-Tep then you'll be disappointed.

If you watch it realizing it's 70+-year-old Elvis vs. the mummy, it's great. Campbell really stays in the character and they don't resort to the crowd-pleasing cheat of having him turn into 40-year-old Elivs at the end.

Excellent soundtrack by Brian Tyler too, the guy who did Six-String Samurai which is another weird but good movie -- Buddy Holly as a Mad Max wasteland warrior on the road to Vegas and being stalked by Death.

Good flick....if you watched it expecting Army of Darkness you will be disappointed. However it is a damn good movie....part comedy and part social commentary. Good stuff......rented it, watched it, bought it the next day.

Not the best movie ever, but there is definitely some gold in the dialogue. I watched it knowing that it was going to be a drama/social commentary/comedy, and not an action movie. In one way, it was frustrating to watch because it is so close to being a great movie, but in the end isn't. It was still very enjoyable.

I think it's safe to say that if you don't like Bruce Campbell, you won't like the movie.
