I'm not going to bore you all with what has all been going on (that's what tech support is for). I HAVE, however, developed a deep hatred for anything nForce. So My question is this: What is the best chipset for the Core 2 chips? I really want to avoid nForce (680 in particular). I don't overclock, and SLI may be an option for the future.

The only SLI chipsets are from Nvidia. For the budget user, the P35 chipset is what to go for and if you have a larger budget for the High end then you will be looking at the X48.

Well i guess I can survive without SLi. X48 you say? I have a fairly decent budget, which brand would you recommend?

if you don't need dual gfx in Crossfire (& most don't) then P35 is fine, that's pretty much the major difference between P35 & X48.

If you like the feature set of the X48s, give the X38 boards a look. A few of those are priced fairly close to the upper mid tier of P35 boards.
