"Build your entire site" CMS like PrestaShop or WordPress drive me crazy. I can't add so much as an h1 or a table without sifting through a 20,000 line CSS file to get rid of a random margin-left, border-top, or mismatching font.

It's not worth it unless you're listing hundreds of items or need inventory management, sales stats, comments, etc. I don't.

I want just a simple shopping cart that can be inserted into an otherwise-static site I've built myself. Does anyone offer that?

Does Amazon let you pay without creating an account? One of the things I like about Paypal is that you can checkout just by putting in your address and credit card. You don't have to log in.
 
I used 1ShoppingCart for a long time. It is expensive but upped my sales a lot. You can configure the top and bottom of the page, so if you're decent with HTML, you can make it look like the customer never left your site.
