I just want a plain mATX case, is that too much to ask?

Can anybody recommend where I can pick up a plain and simple, matx case. Just basically a rectangular box. None with these frigging space age front panels with the power button that is a 5 inch round dot, or the cheap transparent plastic panels, just a regular, plain, rectangular box.

Thanks in advance.

nolovenohope I feel the same exact way. It took me forever to finally settle on a black atx case that didn't have a cheap looking sliding door on the front, a plastic window, or ugly lights on the front. I hope this new case ricing fad dies out soon.

Inwin and Enlight make some conservative case designs as well as the stupid looking (do they really think anyone likes the weirdass designs?) ones.

Problem is, most mATX cases come with wimpy 150-200W PSUs - those will work with a Celery or P4 but not likely on AMD.
. On newegg, InWin, AOpen, Enlight and LiteOn all have what used to be considered "normal" looking mATX cases - some even have enough PSU to push a high-end AMD on a mobo with a P4 connector to power the CPU (e.g. MSI KM2M Combo L).

Still getting a little :sun:...

In my experience, these "wimpy" PSUs are more than adequate for high end systems. I believe the P4 Shuttle systems, and Alienware systems all use these low wattage PSUs. These PSUs make up for their low wattage with high quality. With a high quality low wattage PSU you can run the latest CPU and likely the latest graphics card with no trouble at all. This is just my experience. Your results may vary.

Thanks all for your linkage and comments, but after scouring for almost another 3 hours on my own + your links, I still have yet to find a simple, flat front, rectangular case, so I'm thinking about picking me up a Shuttle instead... = \

Check out the LiteOn st050, item 36600, from casedepot, only vendor I'm aware of. Plain Jane, available with a variety of standard atx psu's... Breathes well, allows for small and quiet... ~$60+ shipping, with ultra quiet seasonic 300w...

If you're telling me that none of the following are plain enough for you, I'll have to have a really good reason:
AOpen H450A,
Enlight EN-7150AP,
InWin IW-V523G.250,
LiteOn ST-950,
Dynapower Hermes,
Evercase 4213S,
or Min Maw - which is the plainest I've seen anywhere - just need to find 2x5" bays model, if 3x5" bays is too big,
all on newegg.com.
. Or the InWin V500, LiteOn ST-050 on the casedepot.com site mentioned by Jhhnnn in this thread.
. Or the Casedge TW-152, MWave CI-6B06/6306 on MWave.com.
Seems to me you're just being contrary, or just Tom Sawyering us into looking for you.

Yep, the Inwin V523. Can't go wrong. If you're looking for a plain beige one, the V523 is hard to find, but the black one is readily available. You can get one from Newegg for a little over $50, shipped. Newegg had the newer version of this case, which has a 250 watt P/S and USB 2.0. And it does accept an ATX power supply. "ricing out", that's funny. The case that immeiately came to my mind was that Strata "X" case. It's even uglier than the AMS Gbox.

Trust me, if nobody bought them, they'd stop production on them right quick. They are selling like hotcakes, my friend.

What about this: click this

Its a Cooler Master ATC-201C-SX2.

I felt the same way you did. All the plastic stuff, clear panels, and neon doesn't appeal to me. Except for the 2 blue LED indicators it looks pretty much like a stock case. I have one and the quality is outstanding. Everyone that sees my case always comments on the clean looks. The slide out motherboard tray makes adding cards and changing motherboards much easier. Thumb screws on everything as well as 4 fans (although you really could get away with using just the rear fan). I got mine at Newegg.
