hai guys out there...
first of all i'm so sorry if my english is suck...i just try my best then...

i'm planning to upgrade my current motherboard......
my 1st question, can i just upgrade my motherboard without changing the my current processor? (no budget for it)
i'm looking for motherboard that support DDR RAM & got 8X AGP slot...

what make i wanna change my motherboard?
i always had problems to run 3D games..
even after i installed the latest driver, my game still not running smoothly especially with high graphic setting(even sometime with medium setting)...
i still can play the game but just not on its best performance...
i'm not sure whether my PC spec is low for the current new games...
would it because my motherboard only support SD RAM & got 4x AGP slot...
would it be much different if i get a motherboard that support DDR RAM (after that get a DDR RAM) & support 8x graphic card...
but some people said my current OS is not suitable for PC Gaming...is that true?
for your information this is my PC spec:

OS Windows XP service pack 2
Pentium 4 1.7Ghz
I'm not sure bout my motherboard since it's HP based PC (Vectra VL420)
Maxtor ATA 40GB Hdisk
512 SDRAM
Asus V9520 Magic Geforce FX5200 128MB 8x (but my AGP slot only support 4x)
Creative SoundBlaster Live! 5.1

4X vs 8X AGP won't make a big difference. More ram or better GFX Card would though. Doesn't matter on version of AGP. Id say replace that 5200 with something like GF4TI or 9500 PRO. :p

Video card is the most important upgrade. Your video card is really really slow.

Better cheap cards:
- geforce 4 ti 4200 or ti 4600
- radeon 9600 pro or XT

Better expensive cards
- radeon 9700 pro, 9800 pro, x800
- greforce fx 6800

A new video card will make a big difference, much more than just a new motherboard if you keep the same CPU.
