NY politics is also a cesspool of politics, the governor is not a position for a political newbie. While Nixon never stood a chance I've seen people recently admitting they will vote for Cuomo just based on her complete lack of experience. The outsider status has lost some of it's appeal it seems.
I won't have to make that choice, as I'm moving out of this state in a few days...I haven’t looked into Cuomo’s Republican opponent but so long as they aren’t some Trumpist I will vote for them as well.

Going to vote for her in a few hours.
My reasoning is, just like Cuomo derailed the Harvey Weinstein investigation because of a bribe, he might pardon/ derail the investigation into Trump's family and I really want them held accountable.
I'm also going to be voting for Teachout in AG because of the outsider status.
Cuomo is like the Ted Cruz of NY. So many people hate him, but he keeps getting elected.
It would be great to see another surprise upset victory for the Dems.
Seems like a lot of people are voting Nixon as a protest but they assume Cuomo will win.
I don't think Ted Cruz is comparable and I really don't like him. I'm still thinking William Tweed.

I don't think Cuomo can be beaten. He and a few others controls state politics. I'm not kidding when I say he's more powerful as an Executive than any US President.
For all its faults, I like NY - it just has a lot of out-of-touch people that keep getting elected to office. I'm just moving for personal reasons (fiance lives in another state) and my company is going to let me work remotely.Congrats!
Serious.

Unfortunately, I'll still be paying taxes on my wages to NY because of its "convenience of the employer" rule.
It's not like I'm moving to the sticks - I'm moving up to a neighboring city of Boston. You sound like me. Happily lived here for 30+ years but there was a 8 year gap during the great recession when I relocated to Singapore.
To be honest, other than Tokyo, Hong Kong, Barcelona, Singapore I wouldn't be happy anywhere else.
What I find absolutely hilarious is the notion that a progressive running against a corrupt politician could somehow be worse. Democracy is dead and can only be saved by revolution, like voting out any who don't promise to get money out of politics out and act on that promise when elected.
Looks like 6 of 8 former IDC members are behind in the count right now. It would be nice to see a NYS senate that would actually pass some progressive legislation that the Assembly has previously passed.Cuomo wins the nomination easily.
Albany could look a bit different tho as D turnout is up huge compared to 2014. Sever former IDC pols look to lose their primaries and some more seats will flip D in November. Cuomo might have to actually bother trying to deliver what those voters want in this next term.
