Yes you heard it right, a telemarkter asked for my parents, I politely said they are not in. And the guy asked if there was anyone who he can talk to about a free directTV system, and I said no. It has to be some sort of scam or marketing scheme, but you always have to wonder "what if...?"

Edit for spelling

I heard a skit where he started fapping (pretend) and making mmmmmmm noises while this female telemarketer talked and by the end she asked to talk again later. :Q ;)

Actually, it's probably not a scam, dealers get referal bonuses for signing up new customers. The "free" system comes with a contract that says you'll have to stay on for a year, otherwise you'll be charged ~$250 as an early termination fee.

My first directv system cost me $25 on ebay. It came with a dual LNB dish, sony receiver. My agreement was for 1 year at $19.99/mo.

I used it for about 2 years, then recently sold the whole set on ebay for $250.00.

If you actually pay for a DirecTV system you are scamming yourself. There are numerous deals out there to get them for free.
