I just turned down a deal

I went to check outa red/black cbr today, the guy was asking for 5300, so after 45mins of me asking for 5000, he said that he'll accept 5100, if I pay him 2000 now so he can pay off his credit card bills. He bought the bike from a dealership and had to pay off the rest of the payments in one lump sum in order to sell it.

Here is the thing though, he said if I pay 2000$ I get the bike, and I get it for 5100, but he doesn't have the pink slip yet, since the finance agency didn't mail it to him yet. He had only paid off all the balance 2 weeks ago.

I told him no, not w/o a pink slip, so I could have saved 200 bucks. Was this a wise choice by me? to wait for a pink slip?

guy will sell bike to me for 200$ less if I pay 2000$ to help him pay off the balance he has on the bike, he doesn't have pink slip, and I don't know him, so I told him no.

Thanks.

yes, no title no deal.

damn right

if you are going ghetto, sure.

sometimes titles take time especially if you are paying cash.

Just make a good contract on anything substantial and have a notary > *

I may be turning one down today myself, found a 20 foot Sea Ray cabin cruiser with a Chevy 350 that needs some work, the guy is talking about $1800 for it, says it needs a new starter & fuel pump.

Am very tempted.

I bought my audi like that - the guy will give you keys and write you a reciept. Then he needs to get ahold of the bank, pay off the balance and they'll mail you the title.

balance has been paid off, he is just waiting for the pink slip in the mail. He does havea $2000 balance on his credit card now though.
