So I moved into this apartment three weeks ago and decided to give SBC's 1.5-3Mb DSL a try. Seemed okay at first, but then I started having problems keeping a stable connection. ASI found that by capping my speed my connection was stable, if not a bit slow. They even had the telco send a tech out to work on the line going to my building, which a previous tech said was highly stressed. Eventually ASI called me to say I was 9900 feet away from the CO and there was no way I'd be stable above 1.5Mb (I was pulling 1.6 at best on a good day). They said I should either downgrade my plan or find new service.

SBC will be disconnected for good tomorrow. In the meantime, Comcast came over tonight, and here is the result: Text

And I'm pretty sure I ordered the 6Mb plan :D

Now I just have to decide if I'm going to keep TV. I really don't watch much of anything, so I'm not sure why I got it.

Yeah, I get 12000 mbps on Comcast and I have the 8000 mbps plan... Comcast rules, I wish it was a little cheaper though.

how much are you paying for comcast?

All told, I think like 90 a month. But that includes 6MB internet, digital plus (130chs), HDTV support and a set-top box.

Plasdom, yeah there's a little discount in a package deal, but I'm not sure it's worth it. I think TV might just take some getting used to as I haven't really watched on a regular basis in over a year.

it's not even worth posting in these threads anymore, especially after amde a few myself and regreting it.

IT COMPLETELY DEPENDS ON THE COMPETANCE OF THE CREWS FOR THE ISP's IN YOUR AREA, THE INTEGRITY OF THEIR LOCAL NETWORK, AND MANY OTHER MITIGATING FACTORS.
