I just "switched" from AT&T to Verizon...

I've been using Verizon for all of two days now, and the difference is night and day for me. When AT&T first took over (bought?) Cingular, I had service every where I went. I used to tease my friends about being able to make calls in the most unlikely places. However, about a year to a year and a half ago, I noticed bars dropping little by little. At first I'd have two bars instead of four (no big deal; as long as I can make a call I'm happy), but eventually I lost service completely in a number of locations. Eventually I couldn't make a call within a 2-3 mile radius of my girlfriend's house, and since I spend a lot of time there, it was an obvious issue.

I'm not really into "enthusiast" phones so to speak, so I can't really provide a good review of the phone. The touch screen is bright a crisp, and responds well to input. Scrolling is a bit of a pain, since you often end up "clicking" an item instead of scrolling the page. This is my first phone with a QWERTY keyboard, and I'm warming up to it quickly. My only real complaint is the size. It's skinnier than an iPhone, but slightly longer and significantly thicker. It's heavy, too. I read a few reviews (after I bought the phone; I had no idea this thing existed until the sales rep let me play with one) and most reviewers complain that the camera doesn't have a flash.

I still have my AT&T contract, so I'm going to carry both phones for about a month to give both a fair comparison. I'm disappointed that Verizon (as far as I know) doesn't offer roll-over minutes; my girlfriend and I are going to be sharing 700 a month, and I'm hoping it'll be plenty (my entire family still has AT&T and refuses to switch).
