You guys, they're normally $100. I got it cheaper with a coupon! The one I was going to buy is closer to $120! (And the largest one is around $180)

Post a picture of your luxury trash can.

Damn, you're a dumbass if you really paid that.

I got one from Walmart about 3 years ago with all the same "features" except it's black plastic. Cost me $12 and is a 13gal unit. Not sure why I'd spend $80 even if it was a "deal" comparatively speaking to the normal $120 price.

For $100 the damn trash can better auto replace the liner from a stash beneath it, have built in scent control with a filter, and be automated so I don't have to push any buttons when I want the lid to open and close.

Trident...wait...wasn't this the guy who just a short time ago was driving cross-country in his Pontiac Aztek looking for an awesome job making awesome money in an awesome city? And the whole situation had to fit his 304 different categories of "acceptable to me" or else he "wouldn't settle?"

A "trash can" can be a Walmart plastic bag hanging off the doorknob of the front door, if you need it to be. Been there, done that.

What the OP needs to realize is that "IRL" is more important than "crap I post online to impress people I've never met and probably will never meet."

Trident: Stop posting. Work your ass off. Buy a small home or a townhome...something YOU OWN. Go from there. Having a sense of "roots" will go a long way towards repairing your very damaged sense of self.

Here is the OP's can from the SimpleHuman site

H8gHwrh.png

It looks like brushed stainless steel, which can be pricey but stylish.

I think I paid half that at Costco for a much larger bin that has a heat sensor so that it opens if you wave your hand over it. I start out saying 'open sesame' but that got old pretty fast.

This. You need to settle, instead of running around like a chicken with no head.

I have the 30L rectangular model.

It's also supposedly "fingerprint proof" (although I call bullshit).

It does look really nice in the kitchen.

13 gallon trash cans are already not big enough for me.. I've always wanted a man sized trash can and certainly a 10 gallon wouldn't cut it for me. Plus amazon reviews of their models mention that some of the most important internal parts are still made of plastic.

I've grudgingly accepted using a 13 gallon model since that's really the largest 'standard' size made.

why do you need a trashcan taking up space in the kitchen? Doesn't it have a cupboard trashcan with lid under the sink like all kitchens I've seen in my life do?

Seriously, just add a 5$ mini trashcan in the bathroom and you're set.

Why do you waste money getting a stupid trashcan, and then end up putting ugly ass plywood on your window to install AC?

Why do you need to produce so much trash?

I hope you at least wipe your bum with them first. You know: so that Greenpeace will not harass you for killing trees.

So, what's wrong with a nice Rubbermaid for $8-12.

I have a couple. They're ugly and appropriate for use under a kitchen sink or in the garage.

If you're putting a trashcan or wastebasket somewhere where people can see it, you're talking metal, probably shiny, probably matched to your appliances if it's in the kitchen, etc.

~$80 for a trash can that looks good next to the stove, or ~$80 for a hunk of wood that sits on a shelf? That trash can is a deal.

If you're at a place in life where you can spend a couple grand on home furnishings to make your environment comfortable and/or something you can take some pride in, $80 for a trashcan is trivial.

Now, $200 for a pair of jeans? That's just insane.

I actually prefer the smaller trashcans... with just the 2 of us living here, a smaller can forces me to take out the garbage before it starts stinking up the place (whereas a 10-13 gal can would take like 2 weeks to fill up)

My 5 gallon trashcan was free. I got it out of a container on a job site...

I'll bet that the ladies would LOVE seeing something like that in the bedroom :)

I actually had one of those fancy Simplehuman stainless steel trash cans with a foot lever and flip up lid. I don't remember it being anywhere near $80, though. It lasted about 2 years before the foot lever broke. Now I have the $13 Hefty swing lid cans from Walmart. Those suckers are tough.
