I just sold a music cd for $225!

So this just blows me away. The lesson learned is, when it comes to the value of something, that is best determined by what someone is willing to pay for it.

Here's what happened:

A couple buddies and I were talking about the band, The Eagles. One of them is a total Eagles nut, with all kinds of memorabilia, old concert ticket stubs, pics, videos, etc. I just happened to mention to them that I have this 24k gold plated, audiophile remastered disc, of the Hotel California album. About that time, a third friend came over, and they all wanted to see it. I had to go out to my car and eject it from the cd changer, then rummage around and find the case.

I already knew that they were selling for between $50 and $80 all over the net and Ebay. One of them immediately offers me $80 for it. Then another offers me $100. Ok, now we have a bidding war going on, and I had not indicated I was willing to sell it yet. Heck, I paid like $30 for it at Hastings in Washington state over 10 years ago. Anyway, they keep going at me, and finally working their way up in their bids, with my one friend topping out at $225!

For some reason, he just wanted it badly. Ok, so I said show me the money! He pulled out the money, showed it to me, and I said sold! He handed me the money, and I kinda shrugged my shoulders, handing him over the cd. He went off grinning to go play it in his car.

Later that night, we met for cocktails. I bought him several drinks and a prawn cocktail, as well as some calamari. I subtly gave him back about $80. Oh what fun! 😉 LOL

Well, that was not intentional, it just happened. I would chalk this up as one of those "once in a lifetime events"

Life owes me, damnit! 😉
