All I have to say is that I'm going to start buying more of these...it was only about $7 and not bad at all... Smooth draw, great flavor....tastes like smoking 6 cigarettes at once. Good stuff....and I don't even smoke. :p

For only $7? I hope you didn't buy it in Mexico, because that wasn't a Cuban you just smoked.

I just reported you. :p

You can still buy pre-Castro Cuban cigars legally.

no only the cigars that Castro rolled himself are illegal.
Actually...due to the trade embargo on Cuba...ANY Cuban cigars are illegal from what I've been told. My cuban didn't have a wrapper on it when it made it to the states so who knows...maybe it wasn't a cuban afterall??? :p It's funny how the wrapper never made it to the airport. ;)

It costs more than $7 if you bought them in Cuba.

interesting. How much are they? (curious) I would think they're abundant over there, and no import taxes to pay.

I have a few REAL cuban cigars in my refrigerator. My cuban GF's grandmother brings them illegally when she travels to Cuba.

Things like the Esplendido are about $20, and to buy them, you would need a passport... and yes, this is IN Cuba. Just because they're rolled there, doesn't mean it's available like cigarettes. Cuba is a small country that supplies these to all over the world... and even though it may cost pennies to make, they still command a high price in Cuba because it is suppose to be an 'elite' or luxury item.

My brother-in-law has a friend who is in the U.S. Air Force, he brought a box of cuban cigars back from South America about a year ago and I got a couple of them. They were mightly tasty.

My neighbor gave me a Romeo y Julieta his wife bought him in Canada (these are the Cuban ones-she bought a box of them) and that was probably one of the best cigars I've ever smoked.

I highly doubt that the OP smoked a genuine cuban.

I'd consider myself to be fairly knowledgable in the area of cigars and I have no desire at all to smoke a "cuban." I am extreemly satisfied with Dominican, Nicaraguan and Honduran cigars and have several favorites that I can purchace from reputable dealers at fair prices (cheaper than online) without having to question their authenticity.

I'm sure if I handed the OP a Philly blunt, told and him it was a cuban, I could have elicited the same response.

I'd suggest the OP to smoke an El Rey de Mundo for comparison. El Rey de Mundo makes a medium-full bodied cigar (don't let the dark wrapper fool you) and is considered by many critics to be one of the world's only "every day, world-class" cigars.

I had a tradition when i was in school, that after the exams, i would treat myself to one. They're significantly cheaper here in Canada (and legal)... about $40-50 per cigar, which isn't bad, that's only about twice what they would cost in actual Cuba, and you don't have to fly down there. Even people who never smoked in their life enjoyed them... it's not only the taste of them, but more the way you smoked them... holding a cigar that big in your hand, toying with it while you drink and chat, etc. Great fun when you're with friends. I paid for the first cigars for my friends to introduce them to it, but after that, they went out and bought their own. Seems absurd to pay that much for a cigar, but if you're only doing it a couple of times a year, it's great.

BTW, i'm FAR from a connoisseur. I've had cheap ones, and cubans, and you can definitely taste the difference. But also when somebody asks you what you're smoking, you can tell them it's a cuban. That's part of the 'fun'. At least when i was in school. I haven't smoked one in years.
