Unless you live in a lucky location you'll be a lot more dissapointed by how long it takes to get DVDs. Ever tried Netflix?

dude I live like 25min away from Flushing NY, and it took them like 4 days to get the DVDs to me

Blockbuster that is

I'd say I live about 20 min. away from Flushing (I live in Nassau), and I have had incredible service from Blockbuster so far. (I'm on the 4 week trial as well.) I've received about 8 DVDs so far, and every single one has had a 1 day turnaround. (ie: I drop it in the mailbox Mon. 2 PM, they get it Tues. 10 AM, ship it, then I get it Wed. 2 PM.)

BB treated me well for the first two trial weeks, but after that, it all went downhill. I'll stick with Netflix.

Distribution Center is one thing, Receiving Center is another. Netflix's distribution and receiving center is in the same area where I live, so turn around time is 3 days.

With the "No Late Fees" they are running in BB stores (19.99 a month, two movies out at a time - bring them back and you can get another 2, maximum 6 per day), I think online rental isn't such a hot deal anymore (unless you don't have any BB store nearby)

I believe its 19.99 for the first month and 24.99 there after for the in-store program.

I think that's the 3-movie program. The 2-movie one is 14.99 for the first month and 19.99 there after

same here. During the trial month, the movies came very quick. Recently I dont get my movies until 2-3 days after they send them

Wow, that's the most pathetic offer ever. You can get the same thing at Hollywood Video for $15/mo, after $10/mo trial for the first three months. Get three movies instead of two, keep them 5 days. Plus, all the local Holywood Videos are about 4 times the size (not an exaggeration) of the local Blockbuster Videos. Hollywood > Blockbuster.

Better selection of movies online. I got a PBS Nova documentary (Battle of the X-Planes) and the best of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.

I'm not positive, but I don't think these are available in-store.

Umm... I have a blockbuster return envelope infront of me thats addresses to BlockBuster Online, Po Box 15006, Worcester, MA, so your list must be missing at least one location.
Mine comes from Chicago. That's makes 2 missing locations on his list. That's a nice comparison when you don't give all the distros.

I live in Elmhurst(technically flushing). I receive a 2-3day turnaround. Less then amazing, but I don't watch/rip movies every night, so the flow is acceptable.

Didn't know Blockbuster had a distro in Charlotte, NC. I might have to try it. Currently I am happy with the Netflix turnaround to Greensboro, NC.

Well I did receive my first 2 DVDs 3 days after I put them in my queue, which isn't the best, since I live 30 miles from Flushing, NY. Still waiting on the 3rd which should come today. I check the mailing label and it is going back to Stamford, CT (I assume it mailed out from there too)... what's up with that ? Why not Flushing ? I bet I'd get a 2 day turnaround instead if that were the case.

Hollywood Videos will soon be Blockbuster. Blockbuster has launched a hostile takeover bid that appears likely succeed.

I signed up for Blockbuster on line too, got my first 3 in 2 days, and with the 2 free coupons, I think it'll be a pretty good deal. I live just outside the Dallas metro area, so I'm anticipating prompt service.

I know. I've been watching Hollywoods impending sale or takeover for a few weeks. Typical that Blockbuster would get them. The crap always seems to rise to the top in this country. *sigh* If Blockbuster is successful I'll cancel with Hollywood/Blockbuster and go with Netflix. Blockbuster will never get a single cent of my money.

I can confirm Worcester, MA for BB. It's about 2-3 days one way from upstate, NY

My problem lately with Neftlix is that it only takes 1 day to get to Rochester from Syracuse, but they won't "receive" it for 2-3 days after I sent it. But when they send a movie, it's always here the next day.

I just cancelled my Blockbuster Online. They would seem to just send out movies whenever they felt like it. I would send back 3, they would get all three, and then just send 2 (and not the first two on my queue). Then the next day send the other. They've done this a few times. Meanwhile I've been on the Netflix two-weeks free thing, and they've been great. Send back 3 movies Monday, get three new ones Wednesday. Awesome.

EDIT>> Blockbuster doesn't seem to. See next post about Netflix.

netflix does. you can set up "profiles" then the main account determines how the overall queue is divided up between profiles.

so if you have 8 at a time, you can have 6 at a time and your roommate can have a separate queue and get 2 at a time.

LOL, I received the wrong fricken DVD... not even in my queue... and it's still coming from Stamford, CT.

This ain't looking good for BB...

Well it's been a few more days and I still haven't gotten the non-shipped DVD... not even in my queue anymore so I just re-added it.

On the upside, I'm now getting them from Flushing. Woohoo.
