Well, I have a sorta similar system to you (cpu/mobo), and I upgraded all my drivers.
I am running the bios Beta 1007-002, and installed the latest nvidia chipset drivers. My comp runs beautifully and has never crashed.
If you decide to flash the bios, do the chipset drivers first, as instructed to on the asus website. In fact, I DIDN'T do this- I flashed the bios first a week or two ago, then finally downloaded the chipset drivers a few nights ago - it never crashed though.
Also, the best way to flash the bios in this mobo is to simply hit alt-f2 (or is it cntrl-f2

) during bootup, and it'll automatically search the floppy for the bios file and install it no problem. It is super easy- didn't know until recently that I could do this.
