I mean A Viper GTS :Q

I am sad because it reminds me that my life will never include personal ownership of such a car.

Anyhow it was this guy in a nice shiney silver GTS and I got to follow it at 5mph through a parking lot a car length behind. Damn me for not keeping a camera in my glove box anymore. The thing sounds crazy. What I found somewhat concerning was that this thing had what looked to me to be an aftermarket "spoiler"/whale tale on the back. That kind of ruined the appearance but hopefully it was functional. His license plate was standard issue, but the frame said at the top "Porsches for lunch" and at the bottom in larger letters "Ferraris for breakfast". Not many people can pull that off on their car, so I doubt the manufacturer of those frames sells to anybody but viper/lamborghini owners and rice boys with a big ego!

Well getting to a car like that can really suck ass. Work so much that life pretty much passes you by. Not really worth it at times.

The GTS has an integral "duck bill" tail on the back...is that what you are talking about?

Don't worry. If you save enough money, you can buy one when your 50 :)

With proper investment there's no reason anybody who starts at a young age shouldn't be able to afford a car like that if they really wanted to.

Though usually by that age people's priorities aren't quite what they are at 25.

I've driven my neighbor's Viper. Great if you take it to the track but not something I want to drive on a daily basis.

They are nice but not for everyday driving. There is an older one here at the local auto shop where I take my car for repairs. Got to ride and race :) I gave him quite a run though!

It's a Yellow one, standard Viper, not a GTS, ACR or anything. I should be able to get pics tomorrow or monday if the guy's at work! My car is here: http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid36/p4318d0663eea1ab655c963a55a725353/fd2180df.jpg

2002 Camaro Z28, 350CID(5.7L) V8, I've added High flow airlid/K&N Filter, Exhaust Cutout, and Drag Radials. Got a fastest run in at the track of 13.44@105+MPH until my brother hit a fence :( I was just getting it dialed in too! I should have been able to shave off another 3-4 tenths with e few more runs and better heating of the tires.

I'm glad I don't have the money for a Viper, because if I did, I wouldn't buy one. I'd much rather have just about any other sports car.

Wasn't there a limited-production Viper GTR or something of the like that had a huge rear wing? I seem to recall that Dodge needed to do that because of LeMans homologation (sp?) rules. You may have seen something far more rare than even the GTS.

Not knocking the Viper; it is hellaciously fast...but for that kind of money (about $80K, correct?), it's not quite in the same league as a "real sports car" ala a Ferrari Testarossa or 911 Turbo, Lamborghini Muciealago (sp?)..they cost much more and are far more refined. Vipers go fast in a straight line...that's about it. Yeah, they can pull 1.0g on a skid pad, but if you put 330-series tires on a Honda CRX, it'd pull 1.0g too. :p

For about 2/3 what the Viper costs, I'd build my dream car.

A 1970/1971 Dodge Challenger with a 4-speed and a 440. But, since we have that kind of money, it would have a blower on it AND be fuel injected...no carbs <--carbs are ancient-tech. Of course the car would be minted out inside and out...and yellow. Bright, BRIGHT yellow. *sigh*

This color yellow.

On this car

I had a 1974, plain-Jane 318 2bbl. Same color scheme (Red/Black vinyl top) as the one above...I will build one someday.

Hehe seeing those pics i can say with certainty the spoiler was NOT stock. It stuck up significantly above the height of the cockpit. It had the top wing part, and then a seperate smaller "layer" just underneath that.
