I just saw the most ridiculous thing

Driving home, I saw a riced out little something or other (Mitsubishi I think) pulling into a gas station in front of me. The right side of the car looked okay, then as he/she turned the left side has "666" painted on it.

Why would anyone intentionally paint something so incredibly stupid onto their own car? I would've grabbed a picture if it weren't pitch dark, I was driving, and I had actually had a camera with me, but this was just stupid looking.

Kids make "act" stupider today than of past generations, but they're actually a lot more intelligent, mostly because of two reasons.

1.) Mental programming. The electronic age has increase people's intelligence significantly. Using electronics, computers, and other things, have increased the compacity of people's minds, particularly younger people. Gadgets have given young people better programmed minds.

2.) The Internet. More access to information = more knowledge. Kids know more today because they have easier access to the information. Even myself, I cannot begin to tell you how much I've learned from the Internet. I leave some people speechless with the amount of knowledge I have. 95% of it I learned using the internet.

Even using this forum is a perfect of example of increased social skills and better access to information.

Find an old person. Ask them to write a letter and then spell check it. They will misspell even the most common words. Why? They didn't spend their youth on Internet forums and writing email to their friends. That's not to say kids don't always use proper grammar and spelling, as I'm sure a few idiots on this forum will nitpick a few grammatical errors on my post here, but the facts remain that kids are overall, more intelligent, far more.

Make fun of Generation Y all you'd like, but this is most intelligent generation ever in the history of the world. That is a fact. Not the best behaving, but most intelligent, that is a fact.

I know lots of old people. My parents are old, so are my grandparents. They all have excellent spelling and grammar. Playing video games may cause you to think more, and to think in creative ways, but that doesn't directly relate to intelligence. Yeah, there may be a higher percentage of intelligent kids these days, but the ones that don't fit into that category are doing worse and worse things, things that my parents wouldn't even have thought of when they were young. Hell, some of the things these kids get away with I wouldn't have even thought of doing just 10 years ago when I was their age.

By the way, just being on the Internet doesn't give you great typing skills, or increase your spelling ability. Hell, it does the exact opposite in most cases, so that doesn't mean much to me.

My point was either this kid was unfortunate enough to have his pimped out little ride vanalized by someone, or he was dumb enough to spray paint "666" on only ONE side of his car, thus making him look incredibly stupid as he drove around revving his 4-cylinder engine at stoplights.

What's such a big deal about 666? Maybe he's just a goth or some other social misfit. Different...boats for different floats...or however it goes.

But being on the internet does increase your spelling and writing skills, that's a fact.

I personally don't have a problem with 666, I just thought it was incredibly odd to put on there, especially in such a permanent fashion. More was that he put it on just one side of his car, and it was all crooked, just made it look sloppy.

But being on the internet does increase your spelling and writing skills, that's a fact.

I'm still going to dispute this, just think of all of the damage that AOL has done to our country.

Heehee, you combined "whatever floats your boat" and "different strokes for different folks". How cute. 🙂

*psst* Knowledge |= Intelligence.

I can't wait until you grow up. I want to see your face when you realize just how intelligent you are.

FYI: I stopped nit-picking your errors after the first paragraph. If you are going to make the mistake of saying that "old people" can't spell because they don't spend much time chatting on the net... well... sigh.

And just so you know... the schools today are a joke. My mom graduated high school in 1970. She showed me her old report cards. I couldn't believe my eyes. Penmanship was a big part of her grade in algebra. Anything below 70 was an F. School was much harder 30-40 years ago than it is today.

So please, please, please... think before you start tooting the horn of an entire generation.

Knowledge does not equal intelligence, but knowledge "activates" otherwise unused intelligence, which makes them appear more intelligent.

FYI: As someone in their early twenties, I am more grown up than most people twice my age.

I don't recall saying "chatting." When people say "chatting," they think 13 year olds on AOL saying "w00t w00t thtas gr8t!" I was more referring to adult oriented forums.

Secondly, a large large portion of improved grammar and spelling comes from reading, not posting. Reading news and encyclopedic-like documents about any imaginable topic on the internet.

The average school has more access to knowledge and information and offers and more difficult level of courses than schools EVER did in the past. That is a fact.

The atmosphere is better than the "spanked with a ruler" days. Teachers are more friendly, which makes it easier to learn.
