I just saw the most ridiculous custom car show on tv...

not sure if it was on MTV or BET.. it was called "Pimp My Ride".

So this chick has a raggedy old clunker powered by ford. Well its a ford, an 91 escort to be exact. Tarnished paint, interior is a peice of junk, the car is a peice of junk.

So these guys do their modfications.

1. BMW front end with lights from an M3 styling kit. Hood also part from a BMW.
2. Mercedes Taillights and a spoiler and bumpers
3. Euro Red / Flame Red Paint
4. Whole bunch of montiors (2 in visors and 2 out behind head rests for the back passengers).
5. New leather all around, sunroof installed.
6. Oh wait we dont have a back seat, we have woofers and amps in its place.
7. No custom car can be bling bling without bling bling wheels.

So we got a euro looking bling bling car, with a BMW front end, mercedes rear lights and a old ford escort engine underneath.

Why didnt they atleast put a better engine in there..


This was probably the most ridiculous show ever.. needless to say i watched 1/2 hr of it.

well i dont watch mtv, i havent in like over a decade. God.. the programming on tv these days. Those guys at West Coast Customs should be shot for doing such a bastardly act to an escort.

Get over yourself. They've also done some really nice jobs. I saw one where they redid a '67 Mustang and it looked great.

My only problem is that they feel the need to put a TV in EVERY car.
 
That's why the people that got their car pimped end up selling it on ebay. it's not really practical and if they had such a crappy car in the first place they obvisouly need the money more than a "pimpin" car.
 
dont see anything wrong with fixing up somone's crappy car for free. As a matter fo fact once a car was so bad that they actually bought the kid a brand new scion to replace it. i guess these days you can't do anythign without someone b*tching and moaning about it.
 
I saw that episode over the weekend, pretty funny. The best one was when the guy wanted to pimp his car, but they realized that it was 2 car chassis welded together down the middle, they thought it wasn't safe for him to drive in anymore so they end up getting him a new Scion Xb and pimp that instead.

I like this program. Its on late over here and been on 4 a few months.
They have done some nice stuff. Sometimes they go overboard with the stereos and tvs though.
It would be better if they went under the hood and chromed some stuff and added a few performance parts like bigger throttle bodies, chipped computers, mod the heads, and extractors/XZorsts. Just simple stuff like that. That way its not just a flashy (bling bling) pos car.

if not, screw it, this show sucks. is it only about flash? is this show promoting rice?


overhaulin. now i love that show. I'm happy that TLC is airing that.
 
Pimp my Ride is my favourite show, but it sucks how they probably don't even open the hood once while it's in the shop.

 
yeah, putting a bmw front end on an escort was kind of lame. next ep is a VW bus, that should be fun.

Rides on TLC seems like it has a lot more substance to it than pimp my ride, have only seen it a couple times though.

I think they open it to paint it.. but that's about it.
 
yaa, that?s the thing that drives (no pun attended) me crazy, they don?t to any engine work
don?t get me wrong, they are not bad looking by the time the shows over but if the cars engine drops out two days later, its not worth much
that?s why i love overhauling, chip foose makes those cars amazing, inside and out
 
most of the cars come in running like sh!t, so I figure they're doing something in addition to the all the toys and flashy stuff. but AFAIK they don't show it. pimp my ride is like trading spaces, more about personalities than actually showing how to do something.

hmm, maybe I was thinking of overhaulin when I said rides. they both are pretty good from what I've seen.

on one episode they put 2 LCD's on my john deere!
