Wow, what a great experience. The hi-res textures and awesome soundtrack made the game almost perfect (long-ass loading times got aggravating :p).

So, to anyone looking to replay HL2, download the FF Cinematic Mod (1.16GB).

Changes the standard textures to highier resolution ones (makes them look better) it also changes the music to more of a movie type experience than a game. Personally I like the music better in regular HL2 but the textures are SOOO much better.

The textures are awesome. I kind of liked the music, too. It's a matter of personal choice. The music evokes much more emotion and adrenaline while playing. :p

Here is a quick peak at the differences in textures. Here there isn't anything MUCH better but I can assure you there are other points in the cin mod that are jaw dropping compared to the original HL2.

These shots are 1920x1200 4X AA 16x AF HQ with everything set to high.

It also really stresses the fact that if you want all the setting cranked up you better have more then 1GB of RAM. I find that using th FF Cini mod makes my RAM usage skyrocket sometimes and I've seen 75% of 2GB eaten up. But it's a great mod.

BTW, it's 1.16GB's NOT 1.6gb

And to clear things up that file has ALL the addons so it's a "one stop shop" to have everything up to date.

I also replayed HL2 with the mod recently and I liked it a lot. Everything looks so much better, including Alyx and Barney (who looks like Charlie Sheen a bit with the mod!).

I personally didn't like the music in the mod, however. I liked the original techno-sfi-fi sountrack better, but fortunately the creators of the mod were reasonable enough to give you the option of picking the bits of the mod you like.

And the more than 1GB of RAM part is also correct. I have one gig and though the game remained playable, I would get a lot of stuttering. Sometimes the game would stop for 5-7 seconds whenever an enemy popped up to load the textures. By comparison, HL2:Ep 1 was silk-smooth.

I'd like to see those, because I'm not sure it's worth the load times based on these caps. There are even a few in which I prefer the original...

It recommends at least 1.5GB of ram, but I played it with only 1GB. It will stutter just a bit sometimes, but definitely not as much as I expected.

Whoops. Edited that, thanks. :p

Anyone willing to throw this on a DVD for me and maybe a Demo or two (to fill her up) LMK. I'll pay shipping and send you a few DVD's for your trouble. Unfortunately, I'm never seeing this mod on 56K :p

For thoose of us with mid-rance pc's. I think it is better to just play HL2 w/out the mod but higher graphics settings, then playing it with the mod but at lower graphical settings. I played that game up until the near very end. But my save got corrupted. I tried getting back into that game, and I just absolutely hate the sound effects in it. When you kill a combine they make a horrible sound, the gun shots sound horrific, and when there is an explosion it sounds like me stomping on a soda can. Just thinking of thoose noises is stopping me from playing that game. I thought the music was ok though. Do they have just a sound effect/music mod??

Try deleting the folders you don't want, and replacing them from the folders from your actual Half-Life 2 (original, not mod) location. Make a backup, though. :)

Install it (the German part, also), with all the instructions in the read-me. Then restart steam, and open FakeFactory's HL2 Mod (Third-Party), not HL2 itself. If that doesn't work, tell us more about your computer, especially your ram.

It replaces the HL2 files, it dosnt make a intire new mod for it. The sounds i get while trying to start are the sounds like when you put in a new mouse or something, nothing pops up its just the sound. Also my comp is like 3.0 ghz 800 frontal bus 1 gig of ram (not much but getting more ;) ) and i have a ATI Radeon X800 XL

EDIT: I think i downloaded a older version...im downloading the right one now lol so ill respost if it works :)
