I just read about the AMD Athlon II X4 620 for $99 and was wondering...

I'm confused by that article.
"This isn?t a harvested Phenom II nor is it a pair of Athlon II X2s, instead it looks like we have a brand new die on our hands (some Athlon II X4s will be crippled Phenom IIs but AMD insists that the new die will be used)."
"Overclocking suffers a bit as the chips capable of the highest clocks are destined to be Phenom IIs."

Are these, or aren't these, different die than the Phenom IIs? How could higher-clocked AII X4s end up branded as Phenom II X4s, if they don't contain any L3 cache on-die? Something is fishy there.

The worst part about this article is that Anand himself wrote it. WTF. How could he let those sloppy bits into the article?

Assuming you already have the E6300 I would just stick with that for now until you plan on changing platforms

*Some* of the new Ath X4's are really Ph X4's with L3 disabled, but AMD says most Ath X4's will be a new die independent of Phenoms.

That E6300 is the new "Pentium" 45nm E6300, which is 2.8gHz stock speed

Performance should be similar, though. Both the old and new E6300 have 2MB of L2 Cache, and since he has his overclocked to the same speed performance should be pretty dang close. So he could use the "new" E6300 as a substitute for his overclocked, "old" E6300.
