I know -- :cookie; -- but hey, we don't get too many actors hanging out in this city. (Except right now, apparantly, as Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst are in town filming "Elizabethtown".)
Anyway, it was pretty cool seeing him, as I'm a big West Wing fan, and of his character specifically. Funny, too, as he was totally casual -- hair grown out a little longer, hanging out from the back of a baseball cap, wearing sandals and a dress shirt untucked over jeans, beard all scruffy and white (looked OLDER this way!). He was with people that looked like they could be related to him, so maybe he's in town visiting relatives....
As my wife and I were walking back to the car, they were walking back to theirs. We made eye contact, I said "Hi, how ya doin'?" and he said "Hi" in a friendly way.
I could tell he knew I knew who he was.
I know, I'm a starstruck dork, but it's the closest I've ever been to a hollywood actor. Sorry, but didn't have my camera-phone with me. Prob wouldn't have wanted to do that to him anyway...
He got raspberry chocolate chip, BTW.
