I just picked up a cheap MP3 CD player and it's better than I thought

I was at the local computer shops here in Toronto and saw that they had a MP3 CD Player on the shelf. So I took a look and the sales guy said it was really popular and that one guy purchased one, then came back to buy two more for his kids. Anyhow, the model in question is the NAPA DAV310 and it can play MP3s, CDs, and VCDs (yes it can output to TV!). I've only got two gripes about this player:
1) The plastic is kind of on the cheap side and the "lid" of the CD player seems like it wouldn't withstand an accident.
2) There is no song name display - only a track number display, so navigating through a MP3 CD is sort of on the blind side.
But these are pretty minor...for CDN$160 (US$90) I think this was a pretty good buy. It even came with a wireless remote! It hasn't had any problems with any of the MP3 CDs I've thrown at it, even ones with really crazy directory structures. And apparently the battery life is really good on these too.

Anyways, I'll stop sounding like I have stock in the company that makes this player. You guys might want to check it out...I think it beats the hell out of the solid-state MP3 players personally.

Its just one of many cheap MP3 CD players on the market. Like the MPtrip CD player.

They all have a cheap feel to them. BTW, I've read an article comparing MP trip to the Mambo thingy.. The guy said the MPtrip had a less cheap feel to it.

Never hard of the Napa Dav310... but the VCD support sounds cool! :)

VCD support sounds cool, but then again I suppose any DVD player should be able to do that as well.

I'd love to have one, but the money's probably better spent on a good stand-alone DVD player.

MP3 players and the new MP3 cd players aren't without their charms, but personally, i'm a hardcore Minidisc user = P, especially with the new MDLP units that can put ~300 minutes on a $3 80min disc... = ) ... he he

I got a Lenoxx MP-768 that works pretty good, I paid about $99 for it and it has an okay feel (it's withstood falls from my car's seat to the floor) but seems to not like glitches on the power supply when using an external source (like a car adapter).

I like the Pine D'Music MP3 CD player. It is one of the few (perhaps only?) player to read ID3 tags. There are a few coming out that play WMAs as well - which is great if you just want to be able to listen to TONS of music at one sitting.
