Ordered a Dell Mini 9 - Refurbished - $188 after tax

Also got 2GB RAM from NewEgg for $22, plus a RunCore 32GB SSD on the way

Just thought I would share!

Yeah - my roommate had the HP mini, which is also 8.9. At first it bugged me but I got used to it after a couple days.

I've been toying with the idea of getting a netbook. That new gaming service "OnLive" got me thinking I could probably use a netbook + VNC or RDP on my home network for those times I don't want to sit around at my desktop. Latency would be too high for FPS games though... who cares. The only major netbook drawback is that screen resolution inherently sucks balls - even for browsing.

Between the keyboard and screen I couldn't get used to the Mini 9. Bought it for $175 and sold it on ebay for $325. Glad I bought it now.

2gb Ram 16gb SDHC. This was before the 10 came out and they ran a 20% outlet + gave me $35 back when I asked to return it. Some lady bought it on ebay for $325. I can't complain.

Other than the screen and keyboard it was by far the best netbook I ever touched. Very fast, solid build. I'd probably get a mini 10 if it wasn't for the soldered RAM.

I actually like it but typing on it is a bit hard for me. It's great to take it on vacation or with you somewhere where you just want to check your email and not do your work/heavyduty stuff.

ive got a asus eee 1000h and love it. yeah, the res sucks horribly, and its not great for heavy work...but its good enough for most of my normal stuff.

i have some heavy duty work I want to do, and my motherboard for my tower is on RMA right now, so ive got the netbook plugged in to my 1080P lcd and all my USB stuff and its good enough for now :)

plus the portability is great, and this is from a thinkpad owner (i dont even take the thinkpad anywhere now and am trying to sell)

tempted to get one as a hackintosh, haven't convinced myself it's worth it yet.

My wife wants one. I've been waiting for a good deal on the 10" screens. That's about all my eyes can take.

I'm actually going to sell my Dell Mini 9 to my father slightly below cost and buy myself a HP Mini 2140. The 1366 x 768 max resolution and much more comfortable keyboard make all the difference.

I have one and made it into a hackintosh. It's great. The keyboard layout sucks, but apparently there is a different keyboard you can get for $15. I got a Wireless N card off ebay for $40 and it flies. It's a really nice machine.

And the part where it costs 2x more and locks you into a ridiculously expensive 2 year contract.

I used a dell mini 9 with ubuntu for about one week. The thing was worthless simply because I can't type anything on it. The keyboard is WAY small. I've tried the 10 and 12 inch and I find them fine, I just can't use a 9 inch netbook.

I hated teh keyboard when I tried it out, otherwise I'd probably have one.

I've also heard it can be upgraded with an aftermarket one fairly simply, but I'd really like to try that one out before I hit the buy button
