I just officially preformed the easiest hackintoshing EVER!

alfa147x

Lifer
Well recently in need of more SATA ports which the magnificent GA-P35-DS3L lacked... I picked up the GA-EP45-UD3LR for $50

Today I found this link

Super easy check it out

I didn't do a fresh install I just booted into my DS3L using a 10.6 restored to flash-drive with the kakewalk patch. Then I copied the "Extra" folder from the flash-drive over the existing on on my HDD (10.6.4).

So I guess I'm assuming that this is the easiest hackintoshing attempt ever 😉

Oh onboard sound doesn't work 🙁 good thing I have a USB sound card 😀
Honestly though if you're hackintoshing desktops I would just get a $6 usb sound card off of ebay and not have to deal with finding a patch that works

Happy Hackintoshing!

If i had that board i would try this. Mac Bios Project http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=210994

Between the features of this BIOS is:

No need for DSDT.aml
Mac Display image instead of gigabyte's one
Native PowerManagement correctly loaded
Shutdown Fix (still long shutdown time, arround 10 to 20 seconds but no need for kexts)
CMOS-reset bug fix for Snow Leo
USB 1.1 and 2.0 seen as internal with sleep capability
Native SMBus loading
Full Sleep and Wake capability.
Full AHCI hotplug capability
HDEF Audio (eliminates HDAEnabler)
Restart Fix
Power button functionality (without breaking Windows ACPI compliance!)

Thanks! I might give that try next time I do a fresh install
Does this mess with windows any?

nvm:

files provided until v0.7h have been successfully tested under both Linux 2.6 (Ubuntu 9.10), Windows 7 and Mac OS 10.6.2. For complete sleep capability, 10.6.2 maybe needed.

One of the threads i followed mentioned this guy about a year ago. I was pretty excited, havent read through all that thread, yet, but seems very promising.

Soon though 'pc' mobos are moving to UEFI so maybe then we will need even less hacks.

If you have an EP35-DS3R, you can get it to work with the kakewalk disc using EP45-UD3R. I have everything working, including sound. I have to change the output to speakers every restart... but since I rarely restart it's not an issue. Updated to the latest Snow Leopard last week and it's been flawless.
