it was less than 70%. only 4 black characters w/ 'major' speaking roles in the matrix - oracle, morpheus, doser, tank. and even that is questionable. tank and the oracle are very light-skinned. i'm wondering if they're even african american. there more 'white' characters with major speaking roles - neo, trinity, switch, mouse, apoc, cypher, the three agents, etc

Were these 4 black characters roles any less important in the movie because they had *gasp* less lines then the caucasian characters. :Q

"We, the African American Actors Rights Guild, demand equal numbers of lines in every movie that we are in. We also demand that for every white person in a movie, there also be an African American. As to who will count the lines in every script written in Hollywood, we elect the Jewish-Asian-Midget-Homosexual-Hermaphrodite League of America."

Oh and LMAO at Morpheus being a minor role in The Matrix

i love the illiterate people here. it amazes me how you even got through the registration on AT, let along get to 530 posts. you need to go back and read my post again. you are arguing things that i never even considered being an issue. where the hell did i say morpheus played a minor role? and wth gave you the idea that i thought that the number of lines in the movie had something to do w/ a particular character's importance?

Let's consider the AME point of view, since you name them specifically.

From their holy book:

2 Samuel 5 verses 6 to 7

6 The king and his men marched to Jerusalem to attack the Jebusites, who lived there. The Jebusites said to David, "You will not get in here; even the blind and the lame can ward you off." They thought, "David cannot get in here." 7 Nevertheless, David captured the fortress of Zion, the City of David.

In fact I can't think of any religion that considers ZION to be in Africa.
I think you made a mistake.

perhaps i did make a mistake, i'm almost positive that i read somewhere that zion was a reference to a location in africa, but considering how obscure such a reference would be, it makes more sense that it's a reference to jerusalem

eye am thorry for mah iilliitterasy, eye had muh mammy thign up AOTO for meh.

Seriously though I read major as minor in your post and had been itching to throw a Jewish-Asian-Midget-Homosexual-Hermaphrodite in to a thread. I will read more carfully next time. Anyhoo, ever think that maybe someone cast these people in these roles because they were the best for the part?

And BTW I think Tank is actually Latin or Spanish or whatever the PC term is these days. I will now leave your thread and never come back.

well yes, this crossed my mind. but remember that thadius is actually a computer animated character. he could've just as easily been made asian instead of black. something to think about
