maybe for you, but not for me bro. There, I said it, I'm a fanboi! WOOOHOOO!!!

LOL

Yeah, I think someone needs to wake up and smell the nVidia.
Yes, they do smell.
Real bad too.

I'll buy whatever has better performance at the right price. Nvidia or ATI...doesn't matter to me. Last card before this 9800 Pro was a Ti4600.

I only stick with ATI because it has better support for older games that I still play like Midtown madness I and II. With all the Nvidia cards i have bought (and thats more than 6 versions) I have noticed that older direct3d games have huge artifacting problems. Since my first Radeon (and several since) all the little annoyances have gone away. Im not saying Nvidia stinks, its just not for me. I do plan on getting a 5900 for a non-gaming system and will try again with the older games, who knows, the problem may have been resolved. the last Nvidia card I bought was a Geforce 4, which was a while ago in PC time. 🙂

fanATIc Pride.

My upgrade path has gone onboard>TNT1>Radeon>Radeon 8500>Radeon 9800Pro>Radeon X800XT(as soon as they hit $450). That said I really don't have a problem with Nvidia. Its just that I happen to get more from ATi. Now my roommate uses Nvida exclusively as well as my youngest brother. Eh, to each his own. 😛

just curious, but is this really a big deal? i always avoid the first pci slot because the irq is shared with agp. i don't think i've ever built a system with a card in slot 1. the only loss is that with the 2 slot cards, you can't use one of those usb-ports-on-a-slot thing

i'm more concerned with the heat the chip produces rather than the cooling solution

see, this is where i think the 2 slot solution has the ability to shine. if they'd use the second slot to duct hot air out of the case, the system would probably be cooler rather than hotter than a single slot design. granted, memory is still able to radiate heat but i think a heatsink could be designed to cover memory and cpu and exhaust heat externally.
