I just installed a new laptop battery into my Dell latitude CPt...

And the charging light only stays on for about 30 seconds and then shuts off. Is the battery old or am I doing something wrong??

Is the battery already charged?

Have you checked the battery status leds? I believe the Dell batteries have a little button that when pressed will give you it's capacity status via 4-5 leds. This is just to check if the battery is charged.

Other than that, I suggest you call Dell or whomever you got the battery from.

Did you buy it from dell or ebay?

What does windows say? What % of the battery is charged?

You might want to login to Dell Support and make sure you have the latest bios.

The problem was fixed by using another Dell AC adapter.

Go figure!

Are you sure the battery you replaced was faulty...?

Maybe a bad AC adapter made you think your battery went dead and replace it...
