I bought a celeron 633 @950 off of Compuwiz1,
Just for the heck of it, I tried for a gigahertz today, run's totally stable at 1.75 volts,
Wow I'm very happy, to say the least.
Congrats, I too reached 1Ghz recently. However, I have to jack the voltage fairly high for it to be stable. At my current speed, I can keep the voltage at 1.7 and it's completely stable and doesn't run very hot. At 1001, I need 1.8 for stability. After it loses it's newness, I'll be ready to set it at 1001 and leave it.
Man thats cool its exciting to hit a mile stone. It will be while before I can out do the one I just did 1708 mhz is nothing short of spectacular !!!!!!!!!
<<I thought the only good overclocker was the 566, my 600 doesn't overclock at all.>>
I have purchased three Cel2-600s in the past two months and all will do 900 MHz. I pushed one to 950 MHz and it ran fine. Since I am running these things 24x7 on Seti I figured I would be happy with 900 MHz. On one I have not changed the voltage. On two I bumped it up .05 volts to 1.,75v for stability. The difference in these chips and the ones jsbushwas referring to is that mine are the new cC0 stepping. They are easy to identify as they have 1.7v on the label.
You guys that have been having great success with your Cellies might want to state the stepping numbers as well, but I would assume that they are the new batch of chips.
And I thought the 600 were the good overclockers!
I have my cel 600 cc0 @1008 with the voltage just to 1.75
Well I guess most overclocking is about luck first and then skill.
I only have the luck part )
Hi Gizmo2, based on the info on your box, your chip is cB0 stepping. Thus, Compuwiz1 must have pretested the chip. You done good!!!
Many mobo's will not allow 1.75 volts on that chip which has a default of 1.5 volts. I had to do a BIOS reload/tweak to get above 1.7 volts on a 533.
I am going to look for a 633 or 667 this weekend when I go to 1st Saturday in Dallas. I'll see what kind of luck I have! Already ordered the HS/Fan from Skyline Graphics. I'll pick it up at the show.
