Well, I was lined up to pick up a 3 month contract down here in Florida this week. Good pay, technical field, everything looked good. I spoke with the recruiter yesterday on the phone to iron out some questions about it, and followed that up with sending off my references to the hiring manager.
I just received an e-mail from the recruiter a few minutes ago saying that the company they are recruiting for has directed them to hold off on all new hires for this contract because of the further threat of bad weather in the Florida area (Assumedly Jeanne et'al). The other company involved in this (IBM) has decided to re-evaluate the entire Florida rollout for this project.
Okay, I haven't won the lottery yet (cause I don't have the money to play it every day), and I don't know of any rich relatives in my family that are about to pass away, let alone have me in their will for whatever reason... but I'm getting the feeling that I'm just not supposed to have a job.
Who's going to be buying tonight's round of  and
's for me?
PS - yes, I have applications in at booger king and all those places too, and am still waiting to hear from them too.
