Why not all four? I had 2 bad ones but I chose to get all 4 removed to save trouble down the line. My body didnt like the medicines I had to take so it took more than 2 weeks to recover :(

Wow, yours went smoother than mine. Granted I had FIVE of them removed (yes, for some odd reason I had a 5th wisdom tooth grow in...grrrr)

Congrats, but look, DO NOT DRINK FROM A STRAW for like a month. If you ever get a dry root, you're screwed. Just remember to avoid the straws for awhile...g/luck on the recoup!

I had all 4 of mine removed when I was 13 so they wouldn't grow in and mess with my braces. While it wasn't fun, there wasn't any pain.

the two wisdoms at the bottom have a complementary bite to the two old molars at the top. so i'm keeping them coz i actually use them.

they said no straw or sucking motion for 2 days.

It's because you have blood clots that have formed in the holes where your teeth once were. If you create too much suction in your mouth, the blood clots will be sucked out and you'll develop dry socket, which is very painful.

I just came back from the grocery store with $20 worth of liquid diet. Doctor said to be on it for the next 24 hours.

You name it: slimfast milkshake, yoplait breakfast smoothie, all kinds of yogurt, peach nectar drinks, etc, etc.

sounds like a crash dieting and i'm not gonna like it.

Do the frickin' salt water gargles. I only did them once or twice and wound up having one try to dry-socket on me. I had to go back to the dentist and he pushed a clove strip inbetween my swollen gums and the tooth that was next to the socket (as in he lined the base of my tooth with the strip). I hurt sooo bad. The worst part was that I couldn't bite down when in pain. I'm surprised that chair still had the arms attached when I left.

The instruction sheet states not to do salt water gargle in the first 24 hours.

I'm planning not to disturb my mouth at all in the next 48 hours.

Just be very careful. I got dry-socket too and it was the most painful thing ever!
I had to go back to the dentist every few days to have a wick stuffed into my gums to ease the pain. After that, the pain almost instintly subsides.
(but returns when the medication wears off)

this liquid diet is giving me a headache.

how do people survive on a can of slimfast.

so it seems like dry socket is the most common risk....

Don't forget creamed soups like chicken, mushroom, clam chowder etc.

and apple sauce!

My wisdom teeth came out easily but the forth one cracked off. The doctor had to dig it out and really scarred the bone. Healing took forever and it hurt bad for 2-3 days. Once the pain meds wear off you won't be hungry anymore. :D

I had pretty much ZERO problems with my wisdom teeth removal, and I had all 4 taken out. The doc said the condition of my wisdom teeth was good, as in, the procedure was standard.

Same here. I had four pulled, and I was eating a chicken quesadilla 2 days later with no problems. They gave me some painkillers and I didn't use them, nor did I use any OTC stuff. I was very fortunate. I did swell up like a chipmunk for the first few days, though.

I didn't even swell. Hardly any pain or discomfort really, unless I tried eating stuff I shouldn't have.

I have one impacted wisdom tooth to remove. I may just leave it in there until is starts to bother me.
