I just Had to put my Dog Down...

Black Lab of 11 years (he was 12), developing some spinal and hip issues, could hardly walk. We had to put him down, no other feasible options.

I haven't really dealt with death much, so this is a new kinda feeling for me. I just took an hour long walk to vent some steam.

RIP Buddy, you'll be missed.

A good dog is 100% heart and " 'till death do us part" loyalty.

In these ways, they are closer to God (or the Divine or any other name you wish) than we are.

So, it is bitter irony that we must play God with their death, and, twice in my life, it had been one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make.

But death is an integral part of life. You did the right thing.

By giving you all of his heart, he has won one small but eternal corner in yours.

And death shall have no dominion.

We put our Butler down this Christmas Eve, she was 18+ and had an enlarged heart...literally.
