Agreed. Even though the site is a joke and we as mature adults understand this, it is important to let a kid know that it is disrespectful.

Rudeguy, IMO you did the right thing. Yes, the site is a joke, and kinda funny, but its still disrespectful and the kid needs to know that. Good job.

Judaism is a religion, but it's mostly practiced by the descendants of a particular ethnic group, so I think anyone who uses "Jew" to mean a race of people can be forgiven.

My son will be 13 next week. He is at the age where what I have taught him thus far is being diluted from TV, school and the internet. I'm fine with that, I actually like seeing him start to form his own opinions on things. I won't stand for him spewing hate. I know that this was not a case of him spewing hate but its not too many steps away from it.

If he was with Jewish kids and joked about Jews...I wouldn't have cared. But I have a strict policy of talking nicer about someone behind their back than to their face.

Its not like this was a huge deal to either of us. It was just another 1 minute parent to kid lecture. He has already forgot about it and I am very much over it.

Racism/ignorance is one thing that I can't stand. That and violence against chicks are 2 things that will instantly set me off.

The whole argument, "They are not a Race" is entirely Moot. Yes, technically speaking from a Scientific view, they are not in fact a Race. However, inn the not too distant past the term "Race" was applied to all sorts of People. The Nazi's used the term "German Race" all the time, for eg. It was largely part of the Imperialistic speak of the period and was a large part of the justification for Europeans to control Lands and Peoples throughout the World. As a Race(es), they felt, they were Obligated and even correct to dominate others.

So, "Racism" perhaps is not entirely accurate, but the attitude is essentially the same and in the end there's no difference.
