I'm known for getting many nose bleeds in the summer and this morning as I got up to head for the restroom and drain my monkey, I felt wettness in my nose (no! i wasnt pissing up my nose). Guess what it was....thats right, blood. Its that time of the year again :( I hate that. anyone else have this yearly disease?

Some people are like that. My brother had nosebleeds all the time when he was little, & I get them at times as well. And it's a lot of blood, too. I've ended up with 1/4" in the bottom of a sink before one finally stopped.

They can cauterize the nostrils, but that's not exactly my idea of fun.

i think it is head rushes or something, cause this morning I realized i was freakin late so i got up really fast and headed to the restroom. Its hot here in Cal so i guess it all went to my head.

Mikal: imagine, cracking my neck and getting a nose bleed at the same time, thats instant death for me

Danny, maybe you could lump all your up-to-the-minute diary entries into a single thread. Ya think?

haha, kranky.

I would recommend the cauterization (or however it's spelled) operation. My mom had problems with nosebleeds when she was little and she had that operation done - she said it was an insanely simple operation and she never had problems again. I get a few nosebleeds a year - but it really doesn't bother me that much. My mom was getting three or four per week.

Also, insurance will most likely pay for the operation.

the culprit here is dryness.

what you want to do is get yourself a humidifier and that should help you prevent nose bleeds. i ain't no doctor, but it worked for me.

Anyone else ever hear about the superstition that when your nose bleeds for no reason it's a sign that an evil spirit is trying to enter your body?

I heard that once when I was younger... anyhow, carry on! :)

Yea, I have a family friend who is an ENT (ear, nose, throat) doctar... he did that cautarizing thing for me cuz I used to have at LEAST 2-3 nosebleeds a day- whenever I took a shower. all they do is take a gauze pad coated with some chemical, then shove it up your nose, then take it back out, then shove up a q-tip covered with some other chemical to produce a chemical reaction that generates a lot of heat. I forget what chemicals exactly, and part of the inside of my nose turned brown as the result of this, but it went away after a while :p but yea, it worked wonders... I've only had about 3-4 nosebleeds since, and I had the cautarizing thing done the winter of '99. I dunno how much they cost though, because I my uncle did it for free :p
