I just had a spasm in my leg

I was napping and was in mid-consciousness when suddenly this pain shot down my leg and I bolted upright in terrible pain as my leg began to spasm. I never felt this before so I was trying to massage it through the bursts of pain but it did nothing. I then attempted to straighten my leg out; this worked. The pain left and I was feeling out of breath from gasping. Can anyone tell me what the fvck just happened?

Oh man, those are the worst. Sometimes when it's so bad, you can't do anything but sit thru the pain.

My friend has them way too often..
Him: AGGGGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me: OMGWTFBBQ MATE?
Him: SPASMZORZ!!!!!
Me: Oh, that again *whistles*

Sounds like a cramp too. You never had a cramp before?

I've had one in my foot occasionally but never in my calf.

Also... the muscle seems to be damaged perhaps because I can't fully extend my right leg without feeling a sharp pain at the ligament (whatever the top part of the underside of the calf is called) in my calf. When will this go away because now I'm forced to limp :|

Calf cramps are the worst. I usually get them as soon as I wake up. As soon as I wake up I stretch and think "Ahh, time for a new day" then all of a sudden BAM for about 15 seconds its sheer pain and I can't do anything about it. I get about one a week 🙁

Spasms are a part of my life. If I took a deep breath right now, my legs would freak out. Controlled spasms are how I can use my fingers to pick up anything heavier than a water bottle.
