lol.

Super Metroid was a classic SNES game. Extremely popular.

Metroid Prime is basically the next Metroid to come out (it's been liek 8 years?). It's on Nintendo Gamecube. Very good game, truly one of the best ever to come out.

The key word there is PC gaming. . .

Metroid Prime is a FPS Metroid on the Game Cube I think.

So, is Metroid Prime reason enough to get a Gamecube? I know there's been a ton of threads on the subject, but I still can't make up my mind. After playing the demo at Circuit City, I really want it. Argh, I can't make up my mind....

Do you think Nintendo will be around long enough to make Gamecube a worth investment?

*gasp* you've NEVER heard of Metroid?!?!?!?! *shakes head in disappointment*

Metroid Prime is only on gamecube, whixh is why you haven't read anything about it in your PC magazine
Here's a little linkage for you

BTW, Metroid on the original Nintendo is a classic

IMHO, no. I will get flamed for this, but be it as it may, that's my opinion. I'm probably gonna rent a Cube after finals let up and go for a mad dash to finish it in 2 days

The easy decision would be for me to get Gamecube, especially with that 25 dollar MIR. I need to decide by Friday. I should be working on my final instead of trying to pick. ;)

The Gamecube is going to be around. And Nintendo is going to be making a console after that also. No console system is on the chopping block, nor is any console company.

Personally, I would never buy a console for just one game no matter how good it is. You should really go with whatever console has the most games you are interested in.

I just got my GameInformer magazine today, and Nintendo recently stated that it's "...in the software buisness, to stay. In the hardware buisness, to stay" and that they are currently working on the next gen gaming console.

For me, XBox has Splinter Cell and Halo. PS2 doesn't really have any games that are exclusive that I want to play. Gamecube has all the Nintendo exclusives.

Other than the games I listed, the only ones I'm interested in are sports. But the Xbox seems kind of flaky, especially seeing threads about certain games not working, etc. If I want to worry about stuff not work, I'd just stick with my PC. But, my roommate's brother might sell me his PS2 with 5 games for 140. If he does that, then I think I have to go with PS2 because of the sheer value of the deal. It's an older PS2 though. I think I remember some of those having problems when they first came out.

Whoa, silly question alert.

They've been around for 100+ years. And despite the fact that they don't have 30+ million units sold like the PS2, they're still turning a good profit on their machine because: 1)The Gamecube is relatively cheap to manufacture (blame smart engineering and design work) & 2)They generate lots of sales on their Triple-A brands (Mario, Zelda, Metroid).

Oh yeah, remember that thing called the Gameboy Advance? And Pokemon?

People always think that because Nintendo won't catch Sony in hardware sales, that they'll pull out of the console hardware business like Sega did. But the fact is, they don't need to catch Sony. They are minting money as it stands.

They made novelty card games for a while before they started making videogames. Use Google if you want some more info.

Dayyyyum!!!! Judging by the sheer number of responses, Metroid Prime was/is quite the popular game!!!! I never had a Super NeS/Original Nintendo/etc. After the Atari 2600, I started going to the arcades and wasting quarters, and after that, I got an original Playstation, which i still own and have about two dozen games for..... I admit; I missed out on about a decade of gaming goodness. What can I say? I was living under the roof of a tyrant and a poor one at that.

About 5 years ago, I got into PC gaming...and here I am. :) Ok, I'll go away now; you guys are having too much fun w/this thread, and I don't know a Metroid from a Hemmorhoid...so away I go. bye.
