If it was "kind of" pink, you needn't worry.

If anything you may get food poisoning (a fate I wouldn't wish on ANYONE.), but even that is highly unlikely.

Not really. The chances the meat was tainted by E-coli is pretty slim.

People forget that medium burgers was the norm before we started fretting over E-coli, yet E-coli has always been there. I grew up eating medium burgers, as did most people over 30 and have never been ill from them.

burgers taste horrible when cooked all the way through. "A little pink" in the middle is the norm at anywhere but fastfood places.

You're completely overreacting.

Yeah, a little pink is nothing to worry about. I always eat my burgers that way, my parent's always have. I personally think it tastes better that way. You should be fine.

It isn't "half cooked". It is just medium to medium rare. The only reason to worry is if it looked absolutely raw and wasn't very warm. There is a difference between pink cooked meat and raw meat. You were just eating pink meat, but it was cooked. Overcooked meat is the worst. I always get my steaks medium rare and my burgers medium. Chicken and pork aren't an option when eating out, but from what I understand, one can eat slightly pink pork nowadays with very little risk. Mmmm... pork...

Also, just an FYI... People tend to overcook a lot of meats. If you are worried, get a digital probe thermometer and check the temps. Get on-line and look at recommended cooking temps from both the FDA and a cooking website (like www.foodtv.com). The FDA temps will always be higher. For instance, the FDA recommends cooking a turkey to 375F (I think) while the bacteria all die at 362F.

I believe it is 160°F. All the water will be boiling off at 212F.

Sorry, you are right Jerboy, the recommended final temp is 175, but the bacteria die at 161.

The oven is supposed to be at 350 though...

The fed recommendations are excessive in my mind. If you cook a hamburger to 175 degrees all the way through, it is medium-well with no pink whatsoever.

The E-coli worries are over-rated. Like I said, I grew up eating very pink medium burgers. My mom and dad liked them medium-rare. None of us ever got sick from a burger.

They've even had people cooking their steaks well done, which is stupid because the bacteria cannot penetrate a solid steak. The only reason they suggest cooking burgers so long is because the bacteria is mixed inside the ground-beef when the beef is ground up.

BTW, the ONLY way to have a filet is medium-rare. YUM! It's sad that ignorance has people cooking these things well done. :(
