Status Update from Ready Hosting, Inc.
Dear Mr. so and so,
As many of you are aware, at the beginning of this month our network was attacked by a hacker. We lost two web servers and four instances of SQL out of the 100 servers we currently host and were not able to recover the backups we had in place. Since the attack we are working on upgrading our backup system, firewall and phone system to ensure this does not happen in the future.
We were in the process of upgrading our Raid V backup system to a new tape system when the attack happened. Because of the in-between process we were unable to recover the data on the servers that we lost. The new backup system is now functioning completely and we have fully tested the system to ensure that all backups are recoverable to avoid this type of situation in the future.
Furthermore, we are in the process of upgrading our network infrastructure to include a brand new, top of the line firewall system. This system consists of two dual Pentium III 1GHZ machines with 2 Gig of RAM. These firewalls are being load balanced using state of the art hardware load balancing switches. This will not only improve the quality of service given to our customers by offering a higher level of security, but will help to increase the speed of the network due to the load balancing.
In addition, we are also upgrading our phone system and support staff once again to ensure that all customer requests are responded to in a timely and efficient manner. For those of you who have received multiple busy signals and long hold times when calling our company, we would like to apologize for this great inconvenience. We have had our staff working around the clock to catch up with each customer?s concerns and requests. We will be operating as normal by the beginning of next week. We appreciate your patience while we continue to implement the necessary upgrades.
We realize the last couple of weeks have been extremely frustrating for our customers and would like to apologize for the inconveniences this has caused. We want to assure you that we have taken every possible step to avoid this in the future and will continue to do everything possible to ensure our network remains secure at all costs. Be assured that no customer data was compromised during the attack. We really appreciate the support we have received from our current customers and thank you for your patience and understanding while we implement our upgrades for continued service.
