Just got a reply from Gigabyte about the GA-8INXP, from Leo(WHO either works for Gigabyte or NewEgg???) anyhow here it is...

This board won't be available until the third week of December. You may
purchase this board at: www.newegg.com before Christmas.

NP, you would have done the same for me I'm sure! Yeah, it took them 2 emails and I'm not sure who Leo is? The email never said Gigabyte Inc....or EggHead inc....so I'm at a loss as to who Leo is...It was however from gigabyte email response, so who knows, egghead doesn't have it yet, but i did see a dual xeon e7505 chipset mobo...$519...ouch! i wouldn't doubt seeing the GA-8inxp going for $230-$250...

Arborbarber, good job my friend. I emailed google and they said that they would be getting the Gigabyte GA-8INXP in around the middle of the month. With the information you received I am optimistic that we could have these boards before Christmas.

Shonuff...Thanks...It really was starting to get to me with all the hype and vendors pushing back eta's...I sent Gigabyte a couple of challenging emails, you know the kind, "well I know a member who received a reply from Asus about their offerings, and I know Gigabyte with their Second to None with Service and Support(their motto) will find time to reply to my email..." So we'll see how true to their word they're gonna be.

Aldaris...I would imagine around the same time, as I am sure both vendors are keeping pace with eachother and the bigger payoff going to the one who gets their mobo on the street first(all these folks with itchy little 3.06 cpu's in their hot little hands!) You still like the Asus P4G8X? They both are good mobo's, I kinda like the redundancy built into the GA-8INXP though, no firewire support kind of stinks...but you can have support of up to 10 HDs...but no firewire support...but you can have support for a 150...LOL!

From what I understand though, Gigabyte should come in at $20 to $40 dollars cheaper...we'll just have to wait and see.

$200+ that's insane for a board. Especially, just a single CPU desktop with no SCSI. I'll wait until the price comes down sometime next year. Or, go over to For Sale Forum and buy all your boards for $50 when something better comes out!

Won't take long for it to drop in price. Those that have the GBs or are getting first shipents, are just taking advantage of those that will let them.

Based on the fact that another forum member recently order his board in the UK for £144 (about $226) I would imagine that the more credible vendors like Googlegear and Newegg would charge something simular for the deluxe versions of the Asus and Gigabyte boards.

You also have to remember that even though this chipset is new, there is a competing SIS chipset due to hit the streets around the same time. This competition has to make prices much more reasonable than $259.

You're quoting the Myinfinity figures for the P4G8X but they've vastly inflated the price because they're one of the only vendors offering GB boards for pre-order. The actual price for the P4G8X should be around $190-200 and the Gigabyte GA-8INXP should be around the same price.

Here are the UK trade-only prices (converted to US$ at £1=$1.57) for those two boards.........

Asus P4PE L - $164 (price in US - $118)
Asus P4PE GL - $195 (price in US - $151)
Gigabyte GA-8INXP - $232
Asus P4G8X Deluxe - $229

As you can see, I'm paying about $44-46 more than US prices for the P4PE boards and even with that level of UK rip-off I'm paying $30 less for my Asus GB board than Myinfinity are asking!!! Basically, Myinfinity are charging what they like but their price isn't an accurate representation of what the Asus GB board should cost.

You'll get your GB boards much cheaper than me. UK prices for PC hardware are often as much as 40% higher than US prices. I would guess you'll be paying around $190-200 for the Asus P4G8X Deluxe and maybe $10-15 less for the non-deluxe version. But yes, you'll only know the true US price when the vendors you mentioned show their prices. Even then it may take a week or two for more vendors to do the same before the price settles at a more accurate level.

Coz...well, I wasn't too far off! The quoted price is very high, and at first it's going to take 2+weeks for it to start to come down, especially if vendors start selling out stock...I'm gonna wait to buy ANYTHING, I first want to see what Gigabyte/Asus has to offer in the line of the Sis 655 chipset. Although, I'm not sure if using anything above DDR226 is going to yeild any "faster" mobos. It seems that DDR266 is a perfect match for intels' 533MHz cpu...best advice to all, is "wait and see". I'm not sure anyone here really wants to buy ANY hardware without first seeing the reviews...I know I don't!
