Proxy bid as much as you're willing to pay, and you can't be sniped.

Yes people need to learn how to properly use proxy bid.

how do u use proxy bid?

When you see the item, bid the absolute maximum amount you are willing to pay. Ebay will automatically bid on your behalf up to your maximum bid. Then when the auction ends, check and see if you won. If so, then you got a good deal. If not, then whoever won the item paid too much for it.

I will use a snipe program occasionally though because of the people who like to bid in $1-5 increments in response to other bids. I just put my max bid into the snipe program, and check back after the auction ends.

I sniped the other day, the guy I beat out sent me a nasty email

I didn't check my email for a day, so I was like wtf? why is this guy swearing and calling me a homosexual? then I put two and two together

yeah i was stupid...missed out on really nice integra leather seats for a decent price...

i don't really ever buy anything on ebay, so i've never been "sniped" at, but damn..i wanna knock that guy's teeth out.

Daveymark, I hope you reported that guy to ebay. If they can't be good sports about losing a simple auction, then maybe they need to step back and go without any auctions for a while, ya know?? 😛

Oh yeah, and I snipe as well, tho not nearly as much as I did 5 or 6 years ago, when you could get some real deals on ebay. Now it seems as though people are just using ebay as a business, and great deals are few & far between. 🙁

Actually, ebay has said that they will allow sniping. So reporting the guy wouldnt help.

I don't think Ebay would approve of the losing bidder emailing the winner. They wouldn't do anything about it though.

how do you "snipe"?

There are websites out there where you enter in info. Then a program automatically bids in the last few seconds of an auction. The idea is so that the other bidders dont have time to raise their bids in retaliation.
