Who was trying to get ahold of her sister. I don't know how she got in my call queue, but apparently she's been getting nothing but busy signals for the last hour, & is worried about her. An operator listened on the line & couldn't hear talking, so she was getting quite frantic. As she put it: "We're not young, you know."

She was obviously quite distraught, looking for somebody to help her.

What the hell do you do in a situation like that? She's frantic, & sees you as someone who's able to help her. The fact that you provide network support for DSL connections means nothing to her.

I didn't know what else to do, I suggested she ask someone to go check on her sister. She said she hadn't been able to get ahold of anyone, so I told her to call the police or fire department.

I don't know what I would have done. Someone called DSL support asking for help finding their sister? That's very strange indeed. You did the right thing. AFAIK :p

Strange....telling her to call the police was probably the most you could do for her (outside of looking for the sister yourself ;))

He wouldn't have been able to do anything more than I could have.

We're not even in the same city as her, let alone in a position to get help for her.

Good on 'ya, Viper GTS. You did the right thing. The older generation of this country are the ones who got us where we are today, economically, and we have much to thank them for. Yes, they get confused far more easily than the average eight-year-old, but we'll all be there some day. Very nice, what you did helping her. :)

I would have told her to call the police. What else could you really even do for her? Your supervisor would have probably said the same thing, lol.

you did the right thing. I might have called her police dept for her and informed them of what the situation was.
