Good for you dennis, you da man. Hopefully he spends a lot of time in prision with some roomates that will make him their bitch. When I went to grandrapids last weekend there were a ton of police at the mall and they had some young guy in handcuffs for beating on his girlfriend/wife. Dispicable:|

dennilfloss,

You and your neighbour might want to consider giving the police formal statements about what you heard through your walls. There is a tendency in Canada to give the criminal the benefit of the doubt and try to reform them - i.e. give them a break the first time and a less stiff penalty in a less-secure institution. The more evidence the Crown has against this guy, the more evidence the judge will have to persuade him/her that this guy needs to do some serious thinking in a serious institution.

GL,

My 911 call description is valid evidence and they are all recorded.

The operator asked appropriate questions and I was more than happy to give details.

My neighbour spoke to the cops also.

BTW, sentencing is also more severe nowadays for domestic violence. To me, banging someone's head against a concrete wall borders on attempted murder. :|

Bonjour La Police! (RBO)

Hail head of my herd, I hope they figure out a way to electronically feel all the rage and pain and fear and self loathing of a typical victim and then make that the punishment for jerks like that. Give em an hour a day for a year or make it portable (implantable) and let them really taste it for a year. I do have a great idea though, for all convicted violent felons make it a condition of their release that they be implanted with a GPS tracker. Make it sensitive to air so it cant be removed and make it ping regularly to check movement. Then when a crime goes down, just check who was in area and then track them to where they are.

I am not Canadian so don't hold it against me.

Temper, temper Flossie. You did fine in reporting him, but medieval revenge won't solve anything or help anybody. Don't get me wrong, I resent the crime, it's awful, but I don't believe in monsterifying the criminal. I hope she gets some kind of help and support to get out of the relationship with that man.

Domestic Violence is WRONG. From the way this sounds it was the guy, and I support dennil 100% in his actions!!!

However, lets not only point the fingers to guys...women do it too. In fact, most women think it's ok for her to slap or hit her husband/boyfriend/whatever and she shouldn't get hit back...thats not true. If you can lay the hit on someone then you can take the punch. Size doesn't matter...Viper is right. Its about respect and values.

Way to go Dennil

🙂

She has somewhere to stay...dennil the stud will take her in 😉 j/k

Bakwetu,

He will get the help he needs. Correctional Services of Canada will force him to undergo some form of rehab and anger control while in jail. Right now he is a monster though...I don't think Dennil is monsterifying him. Domestic violence is some of the most callous crimes out there.

Good job, by calling the cops you probably saved her and/or her baby's life (how many more times could she have taken those types of blows?). Sad thing is, she might go back to him and end up getting beat again (battered wife syndrome).

I also will add a "Good for you, Dennilfloss!" to the others already posted here.

I hope that the woman is successful in finding a place to stay and poeple/agencies who will help her move into freedom and a new way of life.

I'm one of those that don't think revenge should be applied in punishing criminals. I know quite a few here disagrees on that seeing how many that screams for frying people or hoping they will be raped in jail or even worse, when someone starts a thread on some violent crime commited. Hate the crime, not necessary the criminal, that's what I think.

<< and the guy was trying to paint his walls red with his girlfriend's head >>

Wow, when I read that, I seriously thought you were about to make some sort of joke. This is just seriously fvcked up.

Good job Dennil. It's an ugly world we live in sometimes. Hopefully things will turn out well for the poor woman.

It's all about power and control. She probably got pregnant thinking that he would change once he was a father. He probably got her pregnant so that she would never leave him. Two 20somethings having a child for the wrong reason.

BTW, a few years ago there was a lady in New York who was stabbed to death while people in appartment buildings were listening to her screams and watching. No one called the cops. no one wanted to get involved. I am already a 'lawful good' person if one were to put it in terms of AD & D alignment but that story shocked me and I pledged to myself that day that I would never be just an onlooker.

ignorus,

There is another woman living in my building, 2 floors up, who escaped an abusive husband but too late. She is brain damaged and has slurred speech.

That sound awful 🙁

I don?t know which area of Ottawa you are living in, but it seem like too much violence...the restaurant incident, and now the neighbor. I was looking at moving to Ottawa, but now I have to rethink my plan.

Plantanthera,

I don't think that Ottawa is more violent than other cities of close to one million people.

The phenomenon of people just sitting around and watching a crime happening is known as diffusion of responsibility (i.e. the more people that witness an event, the less likely any one of them is to do something). It's just a quirk of human nature, and takes effort to overcome. Which is why Dennil should definitely be commended🙂

I'd have to agree with Bak and what was said above, though. Revenge doesn't really solve anything. I'd rather swallow my pride and have the criminal helped if possible, than to go into a blood-rage and beat the snotbags out of him. But that's just me

Good job! If ya have any info on anything else the creep may have done that is/may be illegal let the cops know, however trivial the offense.

anyone that would dare call you a snitch is a fool, that a$$hole deserves alot worse than that.

if it had been me I would have hoped that I had a gun, and a large one at that, so I could save the cops some time and capped that guy in the face.
