Crap. That couple moved in to the appartment next door only 2 days ago and the guy was trying to paint his walls red with his girlfriend's head about half an hour ago. She was screaming and I could hear thud thud through the concrete wall. I called the cops and they came and she has to go to the hospital. Her forehead is open and she's bleeding. She's also several months pregnant. The guy looks very tough, bald head and lotsa tattoos, including swastikas. The cops took him and weren't too gentle about it. One of the cops was a woman and she had murder in her eyes.

Ottawa Police is cracking down on domestic violence. They no longer take their time since a woman was killed last year. If you call, they come quickly now and they aren't delicate with the perpetrators. The girlfriend did not want to press charges because she has no place to go. The police said that they were the ones pressing charges. It's out of her hands.

FVCK ALL WOMAN BEATERS!!! Why are there so many of them amongst young men nowadays? I hope he spends a long time in jail. :|

Why are there so many of them amongst young men nowadays?

Because society is currently raising a generation of men that does not value women; a generation that views them as objects rather than something to be treasured.

It's easy to abuse something that you don't value.

well i dunno ViperGTS...i would say society values women a lot more than in the past...i'd say women are treated much more equally than before..( yet still not enough..) :(
Be that as it may, good job denni!

Kudos for not just "looking the other way" Dennil! We need more folks to help put a stop to this kind of disgusting garbage.

People today are messed up. I wouldn't lay a hand on a woman and have no sympathy for those who do.

RGN,

I live now in a low-rent housing complex near the Byward Market and they told me that they were screening applicants but it looks like the rental agent doesn't do her job very well. There is a Shepherds of Good Hope complex just a block away and a Salvation Army complex 2 blocks away. So this isn't a posh neighbourhood.

BTW, to those who might call me a snitch: If I don't report a crime in progress, particularly a violent crime, that makes me an accomplice and I can also be charged with non-assistance to a person in distress.

Yeah. Everything is society's fault. The individual isn't responsible for anything anymore. Bullsh!t.

This sorta thing hits home. Let's just say that one of my close family members was at the receiving end of an abusive boyfriend. Luckily she had the support of her family and enough confidence to testify against the a$$hole and get him sent to a federal penitentiary.

I was wondering if it was another joke post Denil but thought you'd pick a more gentle subject matter :) I haven't read all the responses except yours - if anybody called you a snitch they are a moron!

Edit: Nobody did, ok I didn't think they would ! Most/all forms of violence are bloody stupid (no pun intended). I hope they convict the guy - I also love how in cases like this the cops are the ones to press charges, so its out of the victim's hands. I LOVE that law.

dafatha00...

There's a difference between treating someone equally & respecting & valuing them. In some ways the fight for equality has hurt women. There's been such an emphasis on the workplace & business world that people have forgotten the worst injustices that happen in the woman's own home, at the hands of someone she trusts.

In spite of what the feminists may want us to believe, women really are the weaker sex. As men it is our responsibility to treat women with utmost respect & gentleness.

viper I hope you're talking about them being weaker physically (which of course they are generally) - if not I'm gonna run away to avoid the flaming :)

I'm assuming that comment was directed at my post. I was in no way negating his personal responsibility, I hope he gets the living hell beat out of him. But... Our society is teaching people to be like this.

Skoorb...

Of course I'm talking about physically.

Dude, that KICKS ASS!!! I hope more Police Stations everywhere take the same steps!!!

I can't stand hearing about how a woman gets such a brutal beating and then doesn't press charges (because she's got nowhere to go) and the perp walks. Bravo to your Police folks.

And good for YOU! For letting that PRICK know that there are people around that won't tolerate such behavior!
